Itinerary
Gyumri is located in the north-western part of Armenia, in the middle of Shirak valley, 126 km far from Yerevan. From the ethnical point of view it is the most colorful city in Armenia. The local traditions are deeply rooted here, national spirit is reflcted in everything. Walking along the streets of old Gyumri one still seems to hear the voice of the smiths' hammers, it seems that a cart will appear from the street corner and the carter will call to show around the city. The old houses, a part of which fortunately resisted the devastating earthquake in 1988, speak of the high architectural achievements of the city. These buildings are notable with their architectural solutions, combination of colorful stone and masterfully elaborated bas-reliefs. Gyumri has always been in the center of cultural events.
On the picturesque bank of Akhuryan river there is the magnificent monastery Marmashen built by Duke Vahram Pahlavuni. It is a huge complex, the construction of which started in 986 and finished in 1029. The main church is a domed hall. The facades of the church are elaborated with triangular niches, which endow the edifice with special liveliness. The survived eastern and northern walls of the second church, which is adjacent to the main church, prove that both with its composition and architectural details it is the smaller duplication of the main church. This complex built with well-hewn red tufa on the background of the blue sky casts an enigmatic impression.

Visiting Gyumri for the very first time was such a special and unforgettable experience for me. Our day began with a visit to the Gyumri Museum. It was incredible to learn about Armenia's rich heritage and to see how Armenian families lived before the Genocide. It was both inspiring and deeply moving. After that, we had the opportunity to experience traditional stone carving with Narine Poladyan. It was such a unique and memorable activity. We even got to keep the stone carvings we made ourselves, which made the experience even more meaningful. If you're ever in Gyumri, I highly recommend visiting the museum and taking part in Narine Poladyan's stone-carving workshop. The entire day was filled with unforgettable moments. I also want to give a very special thank you to our wonderful guide,Tamara. She is truly one of the best guides I've ever met, so knowledgeable, passionate, and kind. A big thank you as well to our driver, Kachik, who made our journey to and from Gyumri safe, comfortable, and enjoyable. His professionalism and warm personality made the trip even more special. Thank you both for giving us such an amazing experience. I will always cherish these memories.
Today we visited Gyumri, the second-largest city in Armenia, and it is easily one of the most beautiful cities we have ever seen. We went on a fantastic city tour where we visited two different, gorgeous churches, spent time at a wonderful museum where Armenian culture was beautifully represented, and had a blast visiting the Museum of Illusions. What made the day truly unforgettable was our amazing team: our guide, Tamara, was absolutely excellent and explained everything in rich detail, while our driver, Khachik, was so friendly and made our drive incredibly comfortable and special. It was a perfect day from start to finish!
Today was quite the day. A visit to the museum of Dzitoghtsyan and the illusion museum, interesteded me. Khachig and Tamara were both amazing in terms of their jobs, so I had a great day.
The visited monastery site, the stunning landscapes, and Gyumri with its museum
Merci infiniment pour votre avis excellent! Ce sera notre plaisir de vous revoir en Arménie!
We visited northern Armenia with our wonderful driver and guide, Araqel (who also took us to the south on another day). The journey itself was stunning, with breathtaking landscapes along the way and truly unforgettable destinations. Gyumri was especially impressive—full of charm and offering beautiful views. Although it was a bit too snowy at the Armenian Alphabet Monument, the experience was still absolutely worth it. I highly recommend this trip. And if you’re lucky enough to have Araqel or Alexander as your driver, you’re in for a treat—they both have deep knowledge of the country’s culture and history and make the experience even more meaningful.
We are grateful for the nice review received. It’s our pleasure to make the stay of our customers enjoyable!
Great day spent with Anush and Sash to the nord-western part to gyumri and monastries. Gentle and perfectly organised! Hyur is always a guarantee!
Thank you for the warm words! Thank you for choosing our company! Hope to have another chance to host you!
Armen (driver) and Aref (guide) took great care of us. Gyumri has a very different vibe than Yerevan, and is a must-do for anyone who wants to get a fuller picture of Armenian culture and history. Aref is a wonderful guide. One of the absolute highlights for us of our visit was to experience her singing a hymn for us in an old Armenian church. We would warmly recommend Hyur's services to anyone wanting to set up tours within Armenia.
We are deeply thankful for your kind feedback! We’re ready to organize more wonderful experiences for you!
Arayik, our driver provided excellent experience for us. We had a wonderful and safe trip. I will recommend to book a tour with this company.
Thank you for the highest mark! We will be very pleased to host you in Armenia!
The whole trip was really nice. We saw beautiful landscapes although would have been better if we had went during spring but still Gyumri was really nice. What made the whole experience better was Sona’s (our guide) rich information she shared with us and her eagerness to answer all our questions. We also appreciate Hamiq our driver who was indeed very nice and drove us safely until the end of the trip.
Thank you for the glowing review! We’ll be delighted to host you again in Armenia anytime!
NB: the tour included the Harichavank Monastery. This is not the first time we go on a private excursion with Hyur. We appreciate being able to go at our own pace in a small group of friends, with a very reasonable price. As before our excursion was perfect. We had this time taken a guide speaking French, Anoush is a real well of knowledge and speaks perfectly. We were at 6 with friends in a minivan driven by driver Hovanes who is very friendly and drives with caution on sometimes difficult roads. Thanks to them!
Merci pour une note excellente. Ce sera notre plaisir de vous revoir et d'organiser votre séjour en Arménie.
