Terezin was founded by Emperor Josef II in the 18th century and originally had been an ingenious system of the military fortresses. It was also used as political prison. During World War II, Terezin was converted into a concentration camp for Jewish people from all over Europe, and more than 35,000 people lost their lives within its walls. During the tour, your guide will take you to the small fortress, which served as the prison of the Prague Gestapo from 1940 to 1945. In 1994, a new permanent exhibition opened here, devoted to the history of the political prison. Furthermore, you will visit Ghetto Museum, which is located in the building of the former Terezín School. The exhibitions have been arranged with the assistance of former prisoners of the Terezín Ghetto. At the end of the tour, your guide will take you to the former Magdeburg Barracks where you can find a replica of a prison dormitory from the Ghetto period.

Meaningful tour

Kevin was a fantastic guide and Lukas a great driver. Our family’s outing from beautiful Prague to Terezin, was appropriately somber and thought provocating. We are a family of 5, with our three children 16-21. Kevin was an exquisite reader of the room and knew their quiet was a reflection of their wonder of how this could happen. Kevin was a great storyteller and gave us a lot of information and context, he asked us lots of questions, which really had us thinking about this horrific period of time in a different way. Highly recommend Kevin, and Tour company.

Fran, the canary, loved his mastery of the subject and his kindness.

It is worth approaching Terezin to better understand Prague’s history and see a concentration camp up close. A great knowledge of the subject by our guide who managed to get us into this unpleasant episode of the story.

Overwhelming history not to be missed

On the drive to Terezin, our tour guide (Martine I think) gave us quite a bit of history. She was very informed. Being there, at the part that was a Gestapo prison camp, and then in the town of Terezin is more than overwhelming. We are so glad that we included this as part of our trip to Prague although we are still processing how this all could have happened.

Great guide of a very important...

Great guide of a very important place to see while in Prague.
Private car, personal service. Only bad thing is that crematorium is closed on saturdays. It was my second time and wanted to see it again, and the crematorium is a must see. Tour guide Sonia was very knowledgeable and driver Tomas had knowledge about Terezin as well. Comfortable transport in a cozy mercedes. Good tour with these two.
