Itinerary
At 8:00 am, your private tour guide and driver will meet you at your hotel lobby and then head to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda which is a 30-minute ride away from Chengdu city. Pandas are more active in the morning. There you will see lovely furry giant pandas of all ages eating and playing with each other. You will also have a chance to see those very cute baby pandas as well as documents and pictures of how these pink little mouse-sized things grow to giant black and white chubby pandas of over 100kg (about 220 pounds).
Then take a 2-hour drive to the Leshan Grand Buddha. Upon arrival in Leshan, indulge in a delicious Chinese lunch at a popular local restaurant. In the afternoon, you will visit Leshan Giant Buddha abducted by UNESCO as the World Heritage site. You may take a boat to enjoy the whole view of Giant Buddha and then enter the park to visit or choose one of them. Facing the river, the Buddha has symmetrical posture beautifully captured in its solemn stillness. At the end of the tour, the guide and driver will transfer you back to the city and drop you off at the hotel.

Everything started good, our guide Vivian was kind and very helpful. But after the visit to the Panda Breeding Center she told us that the agency couldn’t buy our tickets for the Buddha because we didn’t t have a Chinese ID and in the ticket office they were already sold out. So we didn’t see the Leshan Buddha and they only refund the amount of the ticket for the Buddha (70RMB) and got a visit to Jinlin street. I think the agency should know and be prepared for these kind of things. We only had one complete day in Chengdu and we couldn’t see the Buddha, which was one of our priorities in the trip. We are very disappointed.

Thank you to Bella for the most wonderful day. This tour was amazing but Bella was the best tour guide ever. We would definitely recommend this tour. Thank you Bella!

Our guide Bella was the best guide we had in three weeks of tours around China. Her English was excellent, she was very knowledgeable, but also very chatty and interested in us. On the long trip to Leshan we chatted and we felt like old friends chatting, not like a guide giving us endless historic soundbites and nothing else. This gave us a better understanding of life in China than anything else. She made sure that we got to see the pandas at a time when they are active, which is very important, as they sleep for a lot of the day. The pandas were amazing. I wasn't looking forward to a trip to a "zoo" that much, expecting sad animals in cages, but the pandas are very well treated and seem very content. The whole centre has been planted with bamboo to create a natural feel, and it is beautiful. Bella took us to her favourite restaurant at lunch and we were glad to have her sit with us to try some authentic local food, even dishes specific to Leshan itself. The Buddha was spectacular. I don't know whether it is best to see it from a boat or from the land, but either way it is huge and worth the trip to visit. I can't recommend this highly enough.
Dear Angie, Thank you very much for giving us your authentic feedback on our service, we are happy to know that you enjoyed the Chengdu Trip. We are looking forward to serve you or your friends in the future.

First, let me compliment my guide Emma for her professional and attentive service.
The Giant Panda Center was an inspiration to anyone who understands our need to improve certain ecological environments and situations or anyone who just wants to have fun. The scope of the facility, while apparently directed toward tourists, more importantly provides vital information, learning tools and a wonderful visual education. If you visit Chengdu or anywhere in the area, a MUST SEE experience! Limited physically challenged assistance is available.
I also highly recommend the Giant Buddah 200KM roundtrip. A great driver and knowledgeable tour guide make the journey seem a lot shorter while you are enjoying both industrial and agricultural scenery. TAKE THE FERRY to view an amazing engineering feat of ancient technology, unless you are in VERY good shape. Mountaineering skills would probably benefit anyone hugely ambitious enough to visit on foot.

Excellent trip led by Nancy. Very informative tour. Next time I would choose to hike up the Giant Buddha rather than viewing it from the boat.
