Private Tour in St-Emilion: Tours of Grand Crus and the village

Description
Enjoy a day of discovery in Saint-Émilion from the comfort of one of our luxury air-conditioned vehicles. During the journey your Personal Guide will give you information about one of the oldest wine regions in France. The Romans had already planted vines there. Discover the magnificent vineyards on the right bank of the Garonne, and the castles that make these appellations famous. We will book for you two tours and three tastings, to make you discover the prestigious domains of Saint-Emilion and Pomerol. In each castle a Guide of the domain will give you a guided tour of the cellars, the vineyards, the cellar... Each visit will conclude with a tasting of the wines of the estate. This tasting will be an opportunity to better understand the link between the wine and its production terroir. Discover the cobblestone streets of the medieval village of St-Emilion, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999, and visit the Monolithic Church.

Itinerary
Usual starting point for this day of discovery of the right bank of the Bordeaux vineyards.
Visit the village of Saint-Émilion During your program, you will discover through the charming cobbled streets, the pretty little medieval village of Saint-Emilion. Your guide will tell you the many anecdotes and adventures of its long and tumultuous history. You will discover how the religious practice and the vineyard are mixed and complement each other. You will relive the history of France, which has made this village an exceptional site classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During your stroll through the village, you can stop at one of the many wine merchant stalls to bring back bottles of your favorite châteaux.
In the heart of the city, the monolithic church recalls the religious activity of the city in the Middle Ages and intrigues with its unusual design. If it reveals itself to the visitor by the position of a 68-metre-high bell tower, it then slips behind the elegance of three openings in the façade and an often closed Gothic portal. The church is as surprising as it is fragile!
The first historic wine bar in Saint-Emilion, L’Envers du Décor was founded in 1987 by François des Ligneris and taken over in February 2017 by the Perse family, property owner of Château Pavie and the Inn de Pavia. Over the years, L’Envers du Décor, the emblematic restaurant of Saint-Emilion, has become the unmissable address of the village. The name of the restaurant is given as an example. The selected restaurant may differ depending on availability on that day. The restaurant chosen will offer equivalent services.
Château de Sales is located northwest of the Pomerol appellation. With 47.60 hectares of vines, on the 90 hectares of the estate, the estate has the most important vineyard in the AOC Pomerol. The boundaries of the property are the same as in 1578 to within three hectares, lost during the revolution. Example of a visit. The visit you will make depends on the availability of the castles.
Château La Gaffelière first evokes a Grand Vin, the first Grand Cru Ranked since the origin of the Saint-Emilion Ranking in 1959. The vineyards have been present on the grounds of Château La Gaffelière since Galloman times as attested by numerous mosaics discovered by Count Leo de Malet Roquefort in 1969. Example of a visit. The tasting you will make depends on the availability of the castles.

This tour was definitely a highlight of our trip, and Catherine was an absolute pleasure, so knowledgeable about the region, the wine and the history. She chose exquisite chateaux for our tastings/visits along with the perfect bistro for lunch in St. Emilion. We're still talking about this tour, and hope to visit again. A bientot!
Fantastic private tour. Hugo collected us from our hotel in a very comfortable car and provided plenty of water. We were driven around the outskirts of St Emilion where Hugo gave us a great insight into the many chateaux of the area and their owners and history. We then visited the village of St Emilion where Hugo gave us a very informative and enjoyable tour followed by lunch in a recommended restaurant. We visited three chateaux throughout the day, each providing us with a different guide and tastings. Hugo’s knowledge of the area, its history and its wines is extremely broad and we had a fascinating and fun day. Would thoroughly recommend!
Thank you very much for your review. It was a pleasure for me to share a day with you. Maybe see you again in Bordeaux!
Wonderful day! Highly recommend Bacchus private tour! Private car is the way to see St Emilion! We visited three wineries, had a wonderful lunch and walk through the village. Our driver was knowledgeable, very easy to spend a day with!
Thank you for your booking and for your confidence ! See you next time in Bordeaux!
We had a very nice day with Katherine and even the changing weather did not spoil the mood. We enjoyed the ride in picturesque village, the nice wines and tasty cannelles. The bakery Katherine took us to for croissants on the way as we did not manage to take breakfast was one of the best I ever had!
Thank you Maria! Great moments spent together showing you the places I love in Bordeaux and the vineyard around.. I wish you a very nice time with the bottles you bought 🍷🍷. Catherine 😉

This company looked after all our logistics, transfers and the a wonderful trip to the St. Emmilion region to meet and vist a number of wineries and booth see their business but also taste and experience the wines of the region. Our personal guide Margaux was fantastic and even helped us with our French! but she was ver knowledgeable, friendly and flexible. A wonderful guide and driver. It was very comfortable and a lifetime experience. Catherine in the office managed a number of transfers and they we so polite and accommodating. A great team and a great company. We will return and i will use them again for business or personal use.

This tour couldn’t have been more perfect! We were a group of 7 people (friends & family), all the way from the Philippines. When I came across Bacchus Tours on the internet, I emailed Catherine with some questions and she responded very quickly and we finalized our itinerary soon after. Our guide Benoit, was excellent, very knowledgeable and most importantly kind and gracious. He was the perfect guide. We couldn’t have asked for more. The visits to the châteaus were well planned and our lunch reservation at St. Emillion was arranged by Catherine as well. Look no further for possible tour options. Bacchus Tours delivers beyond expectations. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!
Thank you again! It has been a pleasure for me to customised as your wish the wine tour. Hope you are doing well!
