Itinerary
The town of Mondsee, with its famous St. Michael's Wedding Basilica, lies in the beautiful countryside between the lakes Mondsee and Irrsee. This basilica is famous for the wedding of Maria and Captain von Trapp in the world-famous musical To the Sound of Music. Since then, more than 400 weddings have taken place here. The 12th century basilica is the symbol of Mondsee and one of the largest Gothic churches in Austria. The church received its extraordinarily rich decoration at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. However, the history of this place goes back much further. Originally, the Mondsee monastery stood here, founded in 748. After 800, the so-called "Mondsee Matthew", the oldest translation of the Bible into German, was written in the monastery. After the dissolution of the monastery in 1791, the building was converted into a castle and is now a hotel. The lake is considered one of the warmest in Salzkammergut area.
The ancient town of St. Gilgen is set in a stunning and breathtaking landscape on the shores of Lake Wolfgang. This spa town has several interesting buildings. One is the birthplace of the famous composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's mother, which has now been converted into a museum. The Zwölferhorn mountain overlooks the town and can be reached by cable car. Enjoy the ride up to 1,522 m above sea level to reach the top of the mountain and enjoy the views not only of St. Gilgen and Lake Wolfgang, but also across the lake area to Upper Austria and the Dachstein mountains near Hallstatt!
Hallstatt is a charming town on the shores of a picturesque lake with the oldest salt mines in the world. Its unique location in the Salzkammergut makes it one of the most popular tourist destinations. Hallstatt is so popular in China, that they have even built an exact replica of the town. The town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers a wide range of activities. You can sail on the lake, walk along the streets of wooden houses built on wooden stilts, explore the ice cave, go down the salt slide or enjoy the view of the mountain peaks while hiking. The archaeological finds around Hallstatt are so significant that they have given their name to a period of the so-called Hallstatt culture. You can see them in the local museum. Just above Hallstatt you can visit the world's oldest salt mine with a skywalk for the perfect photo opportunity.

We had a wonderful time and Igor was an awesome driver! We visited three locations and loved each one. We would highly recommend booking this transfer service.
J was a great driver and very knowledgeable about the area. Gave us tips on what to do and see. Very accommodating if we returned early or wanted more time in one city and less in another.
Dear Sara. Thank you for your kind review. We’re delighted to hear J made your trip enjoyable and shared helpful local tips. We truly appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you again.
It’s primarily a transportation only tour where they drop you off to your location and pick you up and bring you to your next location,The driver is very accommodating They gave us enough time to go around and explore the area .All the place we ‘ve been on this tour. Is really great .
Thank you for your review! We’re glad you enjoyed the journey and the beautiful places along the way. It’s great to hear that the driver was accommodating and that you had enough time to explore each stop. We hope to welcome you again on another trip!
We had an excellent time visiting Hallstatt, St Gilgen, and Mondsee. There were four of us (couples). Eduard was our driver/guide and very knowledgeable about the area. He flipped the order of the tour to align better for the weather and sun in each place and it worked so well. Because the cable car was under construction in Hallstatt, he adjusted to find another close by so we could see the views. We came in January and he was cautious and a good driver for winter weather. Overall, we highly recommend this tour!
Dear Joana. Thank you so much for your kind review! We’re delighted to hear you had such a great time exploring Hallstatt, St. Gilgen, and Mondsee. Eduard will be very happy to know you appreciated his flexibility, local knowledge, and safe driving—especially in winter conditions. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you again in the future!
We were picked up from our hotel. Our driver Peter was on time and very friendly. He first dropped us at Mondsee, then St Gilgen, then Hallstatt. We had two hours stay on each location. In Mondsee and St Gilgen most of the shops are close due yo the holiday, in Hallstatt the que was long from toilets to shops to restaurants but we were warned by viator that it will be crowded. They are all beautiful places.
Dear Mayumi. Thank you for your detailed review! We’re glad Peter was friendly and punctual, and that you enjoyed visiting Mondsee, St. Gilgen, and Hallstatt. We appreciate your understanding about the holiday closures and crowds, and we’re happy you found the towns beautiful.
The driver Daniel was courteous and a pleasure throughout the entire journey. Mondsee, St Gildan, and most of all Hallstatt were breathtaking.
