Overall an enjoyable day. Peter, the host, guide and driver, arrived at the hotel early for pickup. We were a party of 4 and his smaller car was barely enough room for us all. The highlight of the tour was the unknown and unassuming town of Vac. Beautiful, quiet, clean and untouristed. The visit to Szentendre was less interesting because the main street that we visited was very touristy with various craftspeople making and trying to sell a variety of items. Peter has strong religious and political views, which came out in conversation. His point of view was interesting, but he mistook a bit of interest and curiosity on our part as an invitation to take us to his church. There was a nice view of the village and the river from the tower, but we were at the church for about an hour, which was too long on a tour described as a visit to local cities. The price of tours in this area is high, but I didn't feel that the content of the tour warranted a price of $150+/- per person. If you enjoy the human interaction, he will show you a good time. If you want to save significant money, you can take the train from Budapest to Szentendre and wander on your own or download an audio walking tour.
Thank you very much for your detailed feedback – I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. I’m very glad to hear that you enjoyed the overall day and especially your visit to Vác – it’s indeed a hidden gem, and I always enjoy showing guests places that are less crowded and more authentic. Regarding the vehicle, I completely understand your comment. The car I use is one of the largest sedan models commonly available in Hungary for private tours, but I also appreciate that guests coming from the U.S. may be used to larger vehicles, so your perspective is absolutely valid. About Szentendre: it’s true that some parts of the town can feel more tourist-oriented, and I always try to balance that with quieter spots and scenic viewpoints. I understand, however, that experiences can vary depending on expectations. The stop at the church tower was intended as a personal gesture from me and is not part of the official tour itinerary. As there seemed to be interest from the group, I was happy to include this extra experience at no additional cost. During this visit, I also had the chance to share some very personal and unique stories, including showing a nearly 100-year-old chess set that was personally dedicated to me by Judit Polgár, one of Hungary’s most internationally renowned chess champions. My aim was to offer something more personal and memorable beyond the standard tour experience. That said, I fully understand your point about timing, and I will take this into account to better match the pacing with guests’ expectations in the future. I would also like to sincerely apologize if any part of my communication or enthusiasm came across as too personal. My goal is always to create a friendly and engaging experience, while respecting each guest’s comfort level and preferences. Regarding the pricing, I always strive to offer a personalized and flexible private experience with local insight, but I understand that the perception of value can differ, and I truly appreciate your honest feedback. Thank you again for your constructive comments – they are very helpful in improving my service. I wish you all the best and hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Hungary! Kind regards, Peter
Peter was a fantastic guide. Very knowledgeable and flexible as we sought out experiences rather than toured. Budapest is a beautiful city and equally charming are the sites outside of the cities. Peter is timely and efficient. Great communication and we felt at ease traveling the day with him. Highly recommend him for touring about.
Thank you very much for your kind and thoughtful review! I’m really happy to hear that you enjoyed discovering Szentendre and the surrounding area, and that the experience felt more like exploring than a traditional tour. That’s exactly the kind of atmosphere I aim to create. It’s also great to know you felt comfortable and at ease throughout the day – that’s very important to me. Thank you as well for your kind words about the organization and communication. I truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back again in the future! Kind regards, Peter
Our guide, Peter, was knowledgeable and informative. Our driver,Chris, was excellent, always watching out for us. After a wonderful tour of Szentendre we had to detour to Visegard instead of Voc due to ferry issues, so Peter was able to turn a potential disappointment into an even better than expected tour getting to see the Visegard Castle. He took us to a restaurant where the locals eat and it was great. Perfect day!
Thank you very much for your wonderful review! I’m really happy to hear that you had such a great day and enjoyed both Szentendre and the adjusted program. Sometimes unexpected situations – like the ferry issue – require a bit of flexibility, so I’m especially glad that the visit to Visegrád Castle turned out to be a positive surprise and even enhanced your experience. It’s also great to hear your kind words about Chris – I’m lucky to work with colleagues who are just as dedicated to making the day safe, smooth, and enjoyable. I’m glad you enjoyed the local restaurant as well – it’s always a pleasure to share authentic spots that visitors might not find on their own. Thank you again for your kind recommendation – it was a real pleasure spending the day with you! Kind regards, Peter
Cool tour, we were able to discover a more rural side of Hungary :) Peter is a very open, friendly and funny guide :) We were able to see a lot and also learn a lot about the culture and history of Hungary
Thank you very much for your kind review! I’m really happy to hear that you enjoyed discovering a more rural and authentic side of Hungary. It’s always a pleasure to share not only the sights, but also the culture and history behind them. Thank you as well for your kind words – it means a lot! I’d be happy to welcome you again anytime. Kind regards, Peter
