Description
Cerritos Beach is one of the few beaches in Baja California Sur that consistently offers surfable waves for a wide range of skill levels. Its open exposure to Pacific swells creates conditions that attract both beginners and experienced surfers throughout much of the year. Unlike many surf destinations where conditions can be intimidating for first-time surfers, Cerritos often provides a more forgiving environment for learning fundamental skills. The private lesson format allows instructors to adapt techniques, pacing, and coaching specifically to each participant, creating a more effective and personalized learning experience while introducing travelers to the surf culture that has long been part of Baja California Sur.

Itinerary
Approx. time: 2 hours 30 minutes Arrive at Cerritos Beach and meet your private instructor for a personalized surf lesson. Begin with a land-based introduction covering safety, paddling, wave selection, and proper technique before entering the water. Throughout the session, your instructor provides one-on-one coaching tailored to your experience level, helping you build confidence and improve your surfing skills while enjoying one of Baja California Sur's most popular surf beaches. After the lesson, relax and enjoy lunch at Big Fun Beach Club overlooking the Pacific Ocean before beginning the return journey to Los Cabos.

Pickup Locations & Times
• Complimentary round-trip transportation is available from hotels in Cabo San Lucas and the Tourist Corridor • If your hotel is not listed, feel free to contact us so we can check transportation availability for your area • Guests arriving with their own vehicle may meet directly at Cerritos Beach (Big Fun Beach Club Parking Area), where the surfing lesson begins from the beach • Hotels outside the main tourist area, including Hard Rock, Nobu, Rancho San Lucas, Diamante, or Four Seasons, are not included in complimentary transportation and will meet at Plaza Gali OXXO in Cabo San Lucas • Cruise guests will also meet at Plaza Gali OXXO, approximately 3–5 minutes walking from the marina exit. Detailed walking directions will be provided with your confirmation message • Cabo San Lucas cruise arrivals operate using tender boats, which may take additional time depending on port operations. We strongly recommend taking the earliest tender available or booking priority tender service whenever possible • Guests who miss transportation or arrive late must arrive directly at Cerritos Beach before the activity start time at their own expense

- Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
- Minimum age is 6 years old
- Guests receive exact meeting or pick-up instructions within 24 hours after booking through the Viator operator chat. If not received, please contact us at least 24 hours before your tour
- Maximum waiting time after scheduled meeting or pick-up time is 5 minutes
- Cut-off times are based on local experience time
- Private surf lessons allow more personalized coaching, pacing, wave selection, and beach time depending on skill level and guest preferences
- Suitable for beginner, intermediate, and advanced surfers with coaching adapted to skill level and ocean conditions
- Surf lessons require basic comfort in the water and moderate physical activity
- Wetsuits available upon request during winter months in XL, LG, M, and SM
- Travelers requesting specific surfboard sizes or fiberglass boards should contact us at least 24 hours in advance
- Instructor ratio 1:3
- Observer/companion spots require advance reservation and additional transportation and lunch fee. Observer option does not include surfboard or surf lesson participation
- Surf lessons operate seasonally approximately from November 15 through March 15 based on seasonal swell conditions
- Includes approximately 2 hours of surf lesson plus transportation and lunch timing
- Transportation from Cabo San Lucas area is approximately 1 hour
- This experience requires favorable weather conditions. If canceled due to unsafe weather, ocean conditions, or operational restrictions, guests will be offered an alternative date or full refund
- No locker facilities are available, but belongings may usually remain inside the transportation vehicle during the activity
- Not recommended for travelers with back problems, pregnancy, or serious heart conditions
- Participants under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not allowed
- Medical refund requests require an official same-day doctor’s certificate and prior notification before activity start time

Monito and Sol took my family and I to Cerritos to surf. We had a great experience. They walked us through exactly how to paddle out past the break, and supported us in the water throughout the whole session. They even got some great go pro clips of us! Would absolutely recommend.

Highly Recommend this experience with High Tide! Omg! We had THE BEST TIME! Like an 11/10… our guides absolutely made our day! Sol and Fernando ~ ask for them!! … let me just add, they both seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs and their smiles and laughs were a plenty (ok, maybe I’m funny… but really! It’s easy to get annoyed or burnt out as guides!) Logistically speaking… Van arrived on time and was clean, guides reviewed our day and made it clear that they were willing to accommodate as possible. We really lucked out with the weather and the waves and our crew had an absolute BLAST. Lunch was great and included~ I found one perk to be with a local while inquiring about prices w beach vendors etc. (ok, I may have ended up getting a massage instead of surfing…. And if that’s your jam~ Mary was great!) We all agreed it was a simply fantastic day and cannot overstate the wonderful time we had!! {hey! HighTide… consider a raise for these two!!! 🥰}

Traveled to Cabo and San Jose with my two girls for a last minute 7 day vacation before school started. This event was so far my kids favorite. My two daughters, (11 and 13 years old) and myself had so much fun. We all really enjoyed it. Marco Pollo, and Mono are very patient and kind. Their guidance and instructions were the best. All 3 of us were able to stand confidently on a surf board within 20-30 minutes. My kids loved it more than parasailing! If you are in San Jose or Cabo, you will not regret booking this event! I highly recommend it.

This was a great 3 hr trip with amazing scenery and it was a blast. Javier and Luis were awesome hosts and very prepared. They picked us up at our hotel right on time, gave us quite a bit of history of Cabo and shared other things to do while in Cabo on the ride to where we launch the kayaks. We then kayaked out to the arches for some photos and then back Pelican Rock for some great snorkeling where the scenery was great! Highly recommend this trip and request Javier and Luis, you wont regret it!
