Tower where the Portuguese Crown observed the arrival and departure of Portuguese caravels during the period of discoveries 500 years ago.
In a prominent position on the right bank of the Tagus River, the original monument, made of perishable materials, was erected in 1940 on the occasion of the Portuguese World Exhibition to honor the historical figures involved in the Portuguese Discoveries. The current replica, in concrete and stone, is later, having been inaugurated in 1960.
Opened in October 2016 within the context of the cultural patronage policy long assumed by the EDP Foundation, the MAAT – Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology is an international institution dedicated to promoting critical discourse and creative practice
The 25 de Abril Bridge is a road-rail suspension bridge over the Tagus River that connects the city of Lisbon (north bank) to the city of Almada (south bank), in Portugal. The bridge is 2,277 m long. With a free span of 1,013 m, the 25 de Abril Bridge is the 33rd longest suspension bridge in the world. It was opened on August 6, 1966
Praça do Comércio, still commonly referred to by its old name of Terreiro do Paço, is a square in downtown Lisbon located next to the Tagus River, in the area that was the site of the palace of the kings of Portugal for around two centuries and which today it is partially occupied by some government departments.
The idea of building the Monument to Christ the King emerged in 1934, during a visit to Brazil by the then Cardinal Patriarch of Lisbon, D. Manuel Gonçalves Cerejeira. As he passed through Rio de Janeiro, he saw the imposing image of Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado and the desire to build a similar project in front of Lisbon was born in his heart. The first stone for the construction of the monument was laid on December 18, 1949, after the end of the war. It was opened on May 17, 1959. This monument is the best viewpoint overlooking the city of Lisbon, offering a wide view over the capital and the 25 de Abril Bridge. In numerous tourist reports about Lisbon, the sanctuary and monument to Christ the King, Almada's landmark, appears.

This was the most fun we've ever had! All my sister wanted to do for her birthday was a private sunset boat cruise and this one exceeded our expectations! Paulo and Kelly went out of their way to make her birthday special even though I only told them about it day ot. They gave us free wine and sparkling rose and even got her a cute birthday muffin with a candle. This was so thoughtful and personalized. It you get a chance, detinitely prioritize this cruise. They also took us past the most beautiful destinations and adjusted the time a little so that we were on the water perfectly at sunset time. We telt so taken care of and special. The sail boat was beautiful and we got the most amazing photos. So many core memories were made! Do this cruise with Paulo and Kelly!!
We had such a wonderful time with Paulo and Kelly - it was a private booking for my family (two adults and two kids, ages 7 and 9). And then we also had a family friend with us. Paulo and Kelly were wonderful hosts, accommodating our last-minute booking. Their boat was beautiful - the perfect size for our group. They treated us with desserts and croquettes and drinks and sailed us up and down the coast of Lisbon. We had a relaxing time and would absolutely recommend the experience!
Myself and friends had an amazing night on this boat tour. They were very responsive and flexible and the food and wine was amazing!
This was a fantastic experience in Lisbon. The sunset cruise was beautiful and so relaxing. As a family of five, our teens loved it too. Frederico and Fernando were excellent tour guides. Very knowledgeable about sailing, the area for both history and cool things to do as a local. We opted in for the Portuguese tapas, well worth it. We will do this again with this provider the next time we are back! Highly recommend. Communication prior to the event also very easy through what’s app.
Hello, Stephanie! It was very gratifying to read your review! It's people like you who make us want to continue and improve with each passing day! Thank you very much and we look forward to seeing you next time! See you soon 🤗
Our group of 5 wanted to do a private sunset sail our first evening after arriving in Lisbon, and Sun Sea Sail tours met all our needs. We ordered the optional charcuterie board, which was huge and full of delicious meats, cheeses, spreads, olives, nuts, grapes, and breads, and more than enough for 5 passengers. I had contacted Sun Sea Sail when I booked the cruise to ask if they could accommodate my need to be gluten-free, and they were amazing — wheat bread for my traveling companions was served in a separate basket (not on the serving platter with everything else), and I got my own basket of GF bread that I could eat. Unfortunately, when you order the charcuterie platter, they are unable to hoist the sail because it could potentially canter the boat and the food would slide off the table. But we very much enjoyed our snack (plus a bottle of wine), and watched the other sailboats sail off into the sun. Our captain and co-captain were helpful pointing out the sites along the river, and we enjoyed a beautiful and relaxing ride on the water. We love supporting local small businesses, and highly recommend this husband-wife sail tour!
Hi Jodi! Thank you so much for your review! It was a pleasure to have all you on board! We hope see you soon! :)
MOST definitely the BEST and most memorable excursion in Portugal. VERY Lovely sailors/crew, Paulo and Kelly, whom provided my family and I exceptional hospitality and entertainment. Even though it was very windy, the crews cater to our needs. Paulo stayed behind to ensure an iPhone was retrieved by the scuba diver after it was dropped at the dock. Thank you so much for making the sunset sail the most memorable event of our family vacation. P.S. This review is entered with the iPhone recovered from the dock after submerged under water for 3 hours. 😂👍
Thank you very much! It was a great and funny tour! Joel, take care of your phone... ;) We hope see you and your family next time! See you!!
We had so much fun sailing with Sea Sun Sail Tours. It was a very nice boat, they were welcoming, fun, and it was nice out on the water. Such a wonderful experience, if you are looking for a small group sail we highly recommend this one!!
