Private Sintra Tour Palaces and Coast by Vintage Car or Jeep

Description
As locals of Sintra, we’ve designed this tour to offer an authentic experience beyond the typical tourist route. Our guides are Sintra residents with backgrounds in archaeology, history, hospitality, and tourism, sharing stories and hidden corners that most visitors never discover. The experience is divided into three themes: Culture & Heritage, with viewpoints and explanations of landmarks such as Pena Palace, the Moorish Castle, and Sintra’s historic center; Mountain & Nature, exploring forest roads, hidden viewpoints, the Sintra hills; and Coast & Ocean, featuring Cabo da Roca, dramatic cliffs, local villages, and Atlantic beaches. Choose from our vintage convertible jeeps for small groups, larger jeeps for up to 8 passengers, or a comfortable minivan if you prefer comfort over adventure. Every tour is customizable, whether you prefer palaces, hidden spots, photography, nature, local food, or a relaxed day discovering Sintra like a local.

Itinerary
Discover Sintra with Locals – Mountains, Monuments & Coast in 4 to 6 Hours As proud Sintra locals—ranging from archaeologists and scouts to tourism experts—we’ve designed this tour to give you a meaningful, well-paced experience of our beautiful hometown in just 4 to 6 hours. We believe that the true essence of Sintra lies in a perfect trio: Monuments, Mountains and Coast. This tour brings together all three, taking you through a scenic journey filled with history, legends, and stunning landscapes. Our adventure begins with a drive up the lush mountain roads toward the iconic Pena Palace. We'll stop at special viewpoints where you see breathtaking views of the monuments. If you'd like, you can also visit the inside of the palace and its surrounding park. This part of the tour is optional and self-guided. Please note: Tickets are not included unless you select the option of Pena Park If you need help choosing the time slot to buy the ticket to pena, send us a message.
Famous for the health giving quality of its waters, the first references to the Fonte da Sabuga date back to medieval times. Here we will stop to have a sip of the "miraculous" water and hear some stories about Portugal.
Standing in the historical heart of Sintra, this is the best-preserved medieval royal residence in Portugal, with its early construction dating back to the medieval ages. We will stop at a viewpoint where you'll be able to see the Palace.
Built by the Moors in the 8th and 9th centuries, it was an important strategic point during the Reconquista, and was taken by Christian forces after the fall of Lisbon in 1147. Considered to the the "crown" of Sintra. We will stop at certain viewpoints where you'll be able to see the Castle.
The Chalet Biester was built in the central and northern European architectural style, which was very much in vogue in late 19th century Portugal, as the anachronic paradigm of a summer residence, in Sintra. It is an eclectic project. Its designers took full advantage not only of its architecture and interior decoration which oscillate between belated romanticism and art-nouveau but also its surrounding landscape, as it is located in a garden and leafy botanical park designed by the famous landscape gardener Nogré. We will stop at a viewpoint where you'll be able to see the Bieter Chalet.
Sintra boasts one of its most renowned and iconic attractions, a must-see not only in the town but also in all of Portugal. Perched atop the Sintra Hills, this place holds a special spot in Portugal's royal history, symbolizing the zenith of monarchy in the country. Nestled within an expansive 85-hectare (210-acre) natural park, this magnificent and lush palace has been recognized and celebrated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. We will stop at a viewpoint where you'll be able to see the Pena Palace. Going inside the park or palace is optional. The visit does not include the guide inside the palace. The guide will take you to the entrance and wait for you while you visit the Palace.
Once we've immersed ourselves in the rich history and awe-inspiring monuments, it's time to venture further into the embrace of the mountain. Prepare to be captivated by its unparalleled beauty as we traverse its entire range, punctuated by a few carefully chosen stops to relish the panoramic vistas.
While touring the mountain range, we will make a quick stop to marvel at a view over the bay of Cascais and the atlantic ocean with marvelous beaches at a distance.
Continuing our journey westward across the mountain range, we arrive at Cabo da Roca, that was once called "the end of the world" is the westernmost point of continental Europe. Prepare to be awestruck by the dramatic cliffs that tower over the untamed Atlantic Ocean. This remarkable location will beckon us to pause and take some time to soak in the breathtaking views that stretch as far as the eye can see.
After we will visit my favorite local beach in Sintra. Here, you'll be greeted by a pristine stretch of nature and the untamed Atlantic Ocean in all its rugged beauty. But our adventure doesn't end there. We have one final surprise in store—a visit to the picturesque village of Azenhas do Mar. Perched on a cliff, this typical Portuguese village gives us "vibes" of Santorini in Greece. As we make our way back to Sintra, we'll take a different route, granting us a sweeping panorama of the entire Sintra Mountain range that we've just traversed. When it's time to bid farewell, you have the option to be dropped off either in the historic center of Sintra or at the train station.

Absolutely phenomenal experience from start to finish!! Diogo was so responsive via Email and Whatsapp about any questions we had. I had hurt my foot recently and let the team know and the tour was personalised around this. Francisco was an amazing guide!! Full of local knowledge and was a fun and great person to be around! He also gave us advice and tips and tricks around the area and also followed up with guidance for questions we had about seeing local Fado. And food!! We loved seeing the cork trees! This was our favorite day of our trip. Do this tour!!! Do not hesitate!!! This tour informed also the rest of our trip! Thank you Francisco and Diogo and team!! We will be back!
Had a great trip with our guide Ines - she was informative, great fun and tailored the trip to our requirements. We got to see Sintra, Pena Palace , the local area and Atlantic coastline. Felt like friends after the tour.

Diago was wonderful from pickup to Drop off. Extremely knowledgeable of the area and the history! We enjoyed the private ride and the restaurant recommendations! We were never rushed and were very happy with the experience!
It was a lovely day! Chico took wonderful care of us! We saw not only the castle, but also the mountain and the sea!!! Awesome! Thank you very much, Chico, for all your attention! We will definitely recommend it!
Chico was the best tour guide. His knowledge of Sintra and the surrounding areas was incredible. He was funny, engaging, and professional. We had several stops with plenty of time for him to give us information about the stop as well as pictures. We would definitely book him again for a future trip.
We had a great day with Chico, he is a real ambassador for the region and knows a lot, shares personal stories and makes you feel like a friend
My wife and I went on this tour, and it was absolutely amazing. Diogo picked us up in his jeep and showed us the most beautiful spots in Sintra and Cascais. He was very informative and gave descriptive, historic background to everything that we saw. His recommendations on what to see and where to go were excellent. We got along with Diogo instantly, and by the end it felt more like we were hanging out with a friend than going on a tour--in the best way possible. I would do 100% do this again and recommend it to anyone considering the tour. It's well worth the money!
This was so much more than a regular city tour—it was a truly unforgettable experience. Diogo’s passion for his hometown, Sintra, shines through in every moment. He didn’t just show us the famous landmarks; he brought the town to life with fascinating stories, local history, and hidden gems that we would never have discovered on our own. His enthusiasm, knowledge, and genuine love for Sintra made this tour incredibly special. By the end, we felt like we had experienced the real soul of the town, not just visited it. Thank you, Diogo, for creating such wonderful memories. We are truly grateful and would recommend this experience to anyone visiting Sintra.
Antonio was a wonderful guide! He showed us all around and accommodated for the mountain being closed. We had a great day
