Private Round Trip Transfer to Colca Canyon from Arequipa

Jorge was fantastic during our transfer between Arequipa and Colca Canyon. We spent three days together. He was friendly, easy to talk to, and made the whole journey very enjoyable. Along the way, he shared lots of interesting information about the region and Peru, which made the trip even more special. We would definitely recommend Jorge to anyone visiting the area. I booked this tour after reading many positive reviews about Jorge and the information he provides during his trips. Before booking, I emailed him with questions about the logistics. He encouraged me to book directly through him rather than through Viator, but I was more comfortable booking through the platform. Afterward, he questioned why I had not booked directly, which made me uncomfortable. Communication leading up to the tour was disappointing. Unlike other Viator guides I’ve used, Jorge never contacted me before the trip. I had to initiate all communication myself and even asked my hotel to call him when he was not responding, as I was concerned the tour might not happen. Only after the hotel reached him did I learn that Jorge would not be driving us and that his brother, Eddie, would be our driver instead. Eddie was very kind and professional, and none of my concerns are directed at him. However, he spoke very little English, so there was minimal communication during the trip. As a result, we did not receive the information and commentary that many reviews had highlighted as the main reason for booking this tour. The drive was quite long, and without the expected narration or interaction, the experience felt more like a taxi service than a guided tour. If I had known in advance that Jorge would not be conducting the tour himself, I likely would have chosen a less expensive transportation option instead. If you decide to book this tour, I recommend confirming in advance who will actually be guiding and driving the trip.

Had a great experience using Jorge for my trip to colca canyon! It is hard to find transfers that are both flexible on pickup and drop off days, as well as still driving you to the key places in the canyon. Price was also in line with / lower than a lot of other options out there. Jorge was also a safe and efficient driver, and it was awesome to learn about the cultural context of Arequipa and Colca from him.

After the Colca Canyon trip Jorge took us to Puno, Cusco, and Humanty Lake. We were with him a total of six days. He spoke very good English, was polite, drove safely, and had a clean, comfortable car.
