Private Rioja wine tasting tour with local lunch

After being referred to Iker from another guide who was not available on the days we needed, I could not have been more pleased to book with Basque Guides. Iker knows his business well. I relayed our specific needs & he tailored a tour perfect for us. He will tell you what is & isn’t possible…trust his knowledge of the area. From our first communication until the tour was done, Iker was on top of every detail. Jaime, our guide, was a great match for our family group of three. Felt as if Jaime was a member of our family. The desire to return for more of the Basque Country is because our experience with our guides, Iker and Daniel. They shared their love of this region of Spain and we felt it. They both greeted us promptly at our hotel and the adventure began..... We would highly recommend them and will have them guide us again for more of the Basque country as we plan our return to have them share more with us.

Daniel was our tour guide and we went out for 2 days because we loved it so much. He had an extensive knowledge of the wines and the region. It is great to have an insider helping. The lunch restaurant was very rustic and super delicious!

My wife and I are wine lovers and foodies. We wanted a personalized wine and Spanish cooking experience in the Rioja region. We did not want to go on a big bus tour that stops at the gigantic wineries. We wanted a guide who would take us to great small and mid sized wineries (so that we don’t drive ourselves after tasting and have tasting already booked at the winery). We did not want big group cooking classes in which the chef speaks on a speaker and you can’t even look in the pan as the meal is cooked. We wanted personalized Spanish cooking classes in which we could see every aspect of meal preparation and ask questions. Then enjoy eating what we helped prepare with excellent wines. This was one of the best private tours we have ever had. Our guide, Iker, was extremely knowledgeable about local culture, wine and overall a lovely person to spend a day with. He took us to experience hidden gems and local spots and overall made sure we had an amazing time. I really recommend booking one of the tours if you want to experience the real Basque region and get a tour that is tailored to your personal taste. Will for sure do it again whenever we are back in the area.

We had an amazing day with our guide Daniel on a private tour in Rioja. Daniel was very engaging and personal. Not only did he provide an educational and informative tour but we really enjoyed his company. He gave us a historical walking tour of LaGuardia also showing beautiful views of the valley. The small family run winery Trintium was unexpected and truly a treat. We visited 2 other wineries, one of our choosing and one more modern. Daniel ordered lunch for all of us at a small locally restaurant that was so good. We highly recommend Basque Guides and Daniel. Iker was very responsive in all communication and the booking process was simple.
