Pickup Locations & Times
Pickup is available from the Halifax Cruise Terminal, any downtown hotel in Halifax City Center, or any residential address within Halifax City limits. Travelers should be ready at their designated pickup location 10 minutes prior to the scheduled pickup time. For cruise passengers, the driver-guide will meet you just outside the terminal gate with a sign displaying your name for easy identification. For hotel or residential pickups, the driver-guide will wait at the main entrance unless otherwise specified. Please ensure your contact details are updated so we can communicate any last-minute changes or updates to your pickup.

I have taken many Viator tours. Most in a big group with a guide. We have a group of 28 people. Instead of 2 bus, they gave us 5 vans. I feel like this is more like a taxi with the driver giving some commentary of the area. The communication with owner of this tour was excellent and he was easy to work with. I’m sure the quality of the tour varies in each car. My driver was very brief in his commentaries. Our time at Peggy’s Cove was rushed (50 minutes). I recommend taking a bigger group tour rather than small van from Viator..

Based on your group size of 28 guests, the arrangement of multiple comfortable passenger vans was discussed and confirmed in advance, as this is the standard and safest way we accommodate larger private groups. Our tours are intentionally designed as small-group, personalized experiences, rather than mass-market coach tours. This allows for flexibility, easier access to sites like Peggy’s Cove (where large buses often face parking and movement restrictions), and more individual attention from our local driver-guides. Regarding the time at Peggy’s Cove, the scheduled stop of approximately 50 minutes follows local traffic regulations, safety considerations, and the overall tour timeline agreed upon with the group leader. That said, we sincerely regret that you felt rushed and we take this feedback seriously as we continuously refine our tour pacing. As for the commentary, we work with several professional driver-guides, and while all are knowledgeable locals, presentation styles naturally vary. We will be sharing your feedback with our team to ensure more consistent engagement across all vehicles. Viator should not put 4 people in a sedan coupe. Three in the back seat was extremely uncomfortable, even more so with the fast driving habit of our tour guide. It was a pretty drive to the Lighthouse, but didn't enjoy it because of being uncomfortable. Visiting the cemetery where the Holocaust deceased are buried was the most interesting part of the tour. I will give our guide credit for his knowledge on the subject. But he was late, arrived 10 minutes after the tour was to begin and we were advised to be there 10 minutes early and we were. In addition, he did not walk up to the terminal like other tour guides did. We had to walk out to parking lot to locate him. After we did, he did not introduce himself. I introduced myself and my 3 traveling partners. In the car he mainly conversed to our male passenger in the front seat. Us 3 women in the back seat was just along for the ride!

The vehicle used was a Lexus sedan, comfortable for up to 4 passengers, but we understand that seating can feel a bit tight when three adults are seated in the back. We sincerely apologize if this affected your comfort during the drive to Peggy’s Cove. We also regret the delay at the pickup point and any lack of introduction or communication that fell short of our standards. Our tour itinerary was great however our guide Adnan did not give us any information on our tour. He did not tell us anything and when asking questions we got a simple yes or no answer. We did not learn anything and were just dropped at each location and told to walk around without any explanation. Our guide was simply a driver and not a certified tour guide as described when we booked. It was very disappointing.

Peggy’s Cove lighthouse is an unforgettable destination and most tourists will go there. Worth the crowds! My son had a blast climbing the boulders. The citadel was a bigger surprise. Delightful fort staffed well with reenactment soldiers and a true museum.
