Although this is described as a ‘private tour’ we assumed, wrongly, that it would be a small group tour but it was, in fact, just the two of us and the guide. Personally I would have preferred it to be a small group as I think it would have been more fun and interactive than just me and my husband walking around and eating with a complete stranger young enough to be our son, as lovely as he was! We were told we would have some local street food and then go on and have some food at a tourist restaurant so we held back on the street food thinking we were going on somewhere else but as it turned out we didn’t. We suggested stopping in Pub Street on our way back but no further food was offered and when we stopped at a bar we paid for the beers, even though the tour description says local beer is included (we hadn’t been offered a beer with the street food). The description also says you are taken to Angchek Angchom Shrine which I had been looking forward to, but we weren’t (and to be honest I had completely forgotten about it until I reread the tour description when we got back) so was subsequently pretty disappointed about that too. Our guide was a lovely guy but the tour just didn’t deliver what was promised and proved to be a rather expensive night out in a place where it’s generally pretty cheap to eat out.
Dear guest, Thank you for the review. I’m sad to hear it didn’t meet your expectations. The tour is indeed a private tour and by that we mean it’s exclusive for you. No other guests are included in this tour. I’m sorry you expected to go to a restaurant. This is not included in the tour and is not in the description. However because it’s a private tour we can be flexible and I asked if you wanted more food, but you said you were full. If you wanted this it was definitely an option and I would have been happy to recommend a place. We went to a restaurant near pub street for drinks, banana leaf restaurant, and had beer. I offered to pay the bill but you kindly said you would pay by yourself. Because our kings sister passed away most temples and shrines were closed on the evening of the tour. I explained this during the tour. I am very sorry for the inconvenience. Maybe it would have been better to mention it before the tour. I’m sorry for that and next time I will do better. Thank you very much for your compliments about me. I enjoyed you as my guests very much. I am 30 years old by the way. I hope to meet you again one day and be able to show you more of my country. Kind regards , Sopheak Hun
