The laundry is run by a community of washermen, known as Dhobis, who have been operating in the area for over a century. The Dhobis work tirelessly to clean and wash the laundry of households, hotels, and businesses in the city. They use traditional methods of washing, including soaking, scrubbing, and beating the clothes against large stones. Visitors to Dhobi Ghat can witness the entire laundry process from start to finish. The laundry area is a maze of concrete troughs, each filled with water and clothes. Mumbai in the Monsoon!

Chirag our guide and Saddam our driver were great. They picked us up right on time and were friendly and welcoming. We had great conversations about life in India and Mumbai and learned a lot about the sites we visited and living in Mumbai. The time spent at each site was just right. We had a lot of fun. We even made a stop for a snack and chai. We highly recommend this tour and Chirag and Saddam!

Recommended tour for seeing all the Mumbai sights!

Would definitely recommend completing a tour with guide Chirag and driver Doufiq in Mumbai! As a solo traveller, I was a little apprehensive around navigating such a big, busy city by myself, but felt completely at ease with Chirag taking me around from place to place (with the air conditioning on full blast in 32 degree Mumbai!) teaching me about the history and answering all my questions on Mumbai and Indian society/culture. They both even dropped me off at a recommended restaurant near my hotel afterwards. A brilliant day and thank you Chirag and Doufiq!
