Dear Viator Customer Service, I am writing to formally express my disappointment and dissatisfaction regarding a recent private luxury yacht experience booked through Viator in Miami on 7/11/2026. What was intended to be a relaxing and enjoyable luxury experience became an extremely frustrating and unacceptable situation when the yacht broke down while we were out on the water. Our tour was scheduled to end at a specific time; however, due to the mechanical breakdown, we were stranded on the water for approximately three additional hours beyond our scheduled return time. This significant delay disrupted our plans and caused considerable inconvenience to everyone in our party. While I understand that unexpected mechanical issues can occasionally occur, being stranded for an additional three hours during a private luxury yacht experience is far beyond a minor inconvenience. We booked and paid for a premium experience with the reasonable expectation that the vessel would be properly maintained, reliable, and able to safely complete the scheduled tour. Given the circumstances, I strongly feel that we deserve to receive a refund for the experience we had. The service we received did not reflect the private luxury experience that was advertised or that we paid for, and the extended delay significantly impacted our overall trip and plans. I respectfully request that Viator carefully review this matter and provide a fair and reasonable resolution that reflects the seriousness of the inconvenience we experienced. A simple apology does not adequately address being stranded for approximately three additional hours due to a mechanical failure. I would appreciate a prompt written response outlining how Viator intends to resolve this matter. I am prepared to provide our booking confirmation and any additional information needed to assist with your review. While we understand how frustrating the situation was, we would like to clarify that your charter was completed in full, and you were able to enjoy the entire duration of the experience you reserved. Although there was an unforeseen electrical malfunction, the vessel remained safe, and our team worked diligently to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. This yacht is a newer luxury vessel that is professionally maintained to the highest standards. Unfortunately, despite regular maintenance and inspections, unexpected mechanical or electrical issues can occasionally occur with any vessel. While these situations are rare, they are sometimes unavoidable, and we always do our best to ensure our guests are taken care of throughout the experience. Because your charter was completed with all of the time you booked, we are unable to offer a full refund. However, we genuinely value your business and would like to offer you a discount as a gesture of goodwill for the inconvenience you experienced. We truly appreciate your understanding and hope you will give us the opportunity to provide you with the seamless luxury experience we strive to deliver on a future charter.
Booked through Viator was contacted by a gentleman, Serge, who was not very responsive. Once he responded back the only times they had was 9 am-noon or 9pm-midnight. Once I chose 9-noon I was then contacted by a 3rd party, Manuela, who was very attentive. I was taken off guard that I was responsible for contacting our own captain. The first captain cancelled 10 mins before boarding so I was scrambling to get another one. There are plenty however. The boat was in decent shape and our captain Felix was the best part of the trip. We booked a 3 hour trip and were not told it would take 1 hour to get from the marina to the open water. We had to stay under a certain speed and it was a “quiet zone” for 2 hours of the trip. It would have been nice to know that prior so we could have booked a bit longer. The ad showed a pool in the back which was never opened but we didn’t ask either Overall it was not with the money. Disappointing at best.

While we understand that the captain selection process may have been unexpected, it is a legal requirement under U.S. Coast Guard bareboat charter regulations. By law, guests must independently select and hire their captain from a list of qualified captains provided by the charter company. We cannot assign a captain on your behalf, as doing so would violate federal regulations. We understand that the cancellation was stressful, and we're glad another qualified captain was available so your trip could proceed as scheduled. Regarding the cruise route, the yacht departs from a marina that requires vessels to travel through a no-wake zone before reaching open water. This is a Coast Guard and local marine regulation that all vessels must follow. As for the sea pool, we're sorry it wasn't deployed during your trip. After reviewing your charter, we noted that one member of your group arrived late, and the captain waited to ensure everyone could board together. Unfortunately, this reduced the amount of time available during your scheduled charter. Given the remaining time and the priority of maximizing your time on the water, the sea pool was not set up, as deploying and retrieving it safely requires additional time. We truly value your feedback, as it helps us improve the experience we provide. We hope you'll consider giving us another opportunity to provide the five-star luxury charter experience we strive to deliver to every guest.
