Private Kayak Tour to the Benagil Caves with 4K Photos

If you want to enjoy a private and more intimate experience this is your best choice. This tour is made for those who would like to go along with a guide and have a more personalized adventure in these beautiful caves. Our journey will start at the magnificent Carvalho beach. A small beach totally surrounded and protected by its limestone cliffs where the access is through a tunnel. From there we will show you the most breathtaking caves, “algars” and natural formations always with one of our guides taking the lead, making sure that everybody is safe and having the most fun. The duration of our expedition is aprox. 2 hours and 30 minutes, where we gonna have time to rest/photos at the most famous cave of Portugal, the “Algar” of Benagil. Additionally, we will get away from the typical confusion of the high season by doing a route that is way calmer and most of the people don’t know about.

Had an amazing time on the Benagil Caves kayak tour with Brotherootz! The guides were friendly, organized, and made the experience both fun and safe. The caves and coastline were absolutely beautiful, and kayaking allowed us to get up close to places you can’t fully appreciate from a boat. One of the highlights of our trip to the Algarve, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Our group had a fantastic time on our tour! We loved the beauty of the caves and it was great to have all of it captured in photos. Bruno was knowledgeable and entertaining- while making sure we all felt safe. The only recommendation I would give to anyone wanting to do the tour is to make sure you find out the exact name of the tour company so you know who you are looking for at the meeting point. Additionally, if you are navigating with GPS, make sure you input the complete address. Otherwise you may have trouble locating.
We recently did the kayak tour to the Benagil Cave on Wednesday, 29 April 2026, and overall had a good experience, with a few areas that could be improved. On the positive side, the equipment was good quality and felt safe and well-maintained. The kayaking route itself is absolutely stunning — the coastline around Benagil is incredible, and getting to explore the caves and hidden beaches from the water was a real highlight. The location alone makes this experience worthwhile. However, there were several downsides. There was only one guide managing around seven canoes, which at times felt stretched, and it didn’t feel like the guide had full control of the group. At one point, a couple decided not to continue and turned back, but the guide didn’t realise until another member of the group pointed it out, which was concerning. He then had to go back to assist them, leaving the rest of the group waiting without any safety cover and interrupting the flow of the tour. The guide’s commentary was also quite difficult to hear at times, especially when spread out on the water, so it felt like we may have missed some of the information. Additionally, while photos were included as part of the package, the quality was disappointing — many were blurry and didn’t capture the experience well. Had we known this, we would have taken our own camera. Overall, a beautiful setting and enjoyable activity, but improvements in group management, communication, and photo quality would make it a much better experience.

Regarding the group management, we would like to clarify that our policy is a maximum of six kayaks per guide. Our tours are intentionally operated with small groups to ensure safety, comfort, and close supervision throughout the experience. It is also important to note that, from time to time, a guest may decide to return to the beach before the end of the tour. In those situations, the guide will always assist that kayak and ensure that everyone remains safe. While this may temporarily alter the flow of the tour, all guests remain under supervision and safety is never compromised. If at any point it appeared that the guide’s attention was focused elsewhere, it was because he was assisting guests who had decided to return, while still maintaining control of the overall group. Regarding communication and photo quality, the conditions on that particular day were significantly rougher than usual, with more wind and wave activity than we typically experience. Naturally, these conditions can make both communication on the water and photography more challenging. We will nevertheless share your feedback with our guides, as providing clear information and high-quality photos remains a very important part of the experience we aim to deliver.
