We had an awesome experience. I gave four stars instead of three because I could barely hear the pilot through the headphones I was given. Even with the volume all the way up it sounded fuzzy, and I felt like I missed out on the guided tour aspect.
The Pilot was ecellent. The experience even better than expected.
It was a flying experience that exceeded my expectations. I've been flying a Cessna a lot, but this is my first helicopter flight. And no doors. This "no door" was better than I imagined. First of all, the reality and three-dimensionality on the ground are completely different depending on whether it is through glass or not. I was impressed to see that huge diamond head at close range right below. The wind was so strong that I was left excited throughout. My brother, a good-looking pilot, explained a lot, but I didn't understand English, so I just got a sense of the atmosphere. I'm sorry I didn't get a reaction because I didn't know how to use the income. Laugh All of the correspondence with the staff before the flight is in English and it's done via a translation app, so there's not much of a problem, but if anything, I would have liked to have at least some Japanese subtitles for the explanatory videos to listen to beforehand. I also felt that I needed to explain how to use the income in Japanese. In any case, once you see the power of the doorless helicopter, there is no going back. Thank you for the good memories. I will repeat it again.
The helicopter flight was absolutely amazing; the ladies at check-in were the most unfriendly we have ever met in Hawaii. We had another question regarding life jackets, which was NOT explained to us; they simply said: you saw it in the safety video. What is that supposed to mean?!
This was a great experience. Our pilot Meg was awesome. She was very steady and took us all over the island.
Had an awesome flight with our pilot Matt. I was amazed by how much of the island we were able to see in our hour-long journey. Countless waterfalls, the whole Nepali coastline, Hanalei Bay, and even inside a volcano crater. We chose to fly doors-on as I’ve heard that doors off is quite loud and chilly experience. No regrets. We had a very enjoyable time! Originally, we had this booked for a couple days prior, made it all the way to the office and through our safety briefing before out that the flight was going to be canceled. A bit of a hassle, but better safe than sorry! Our second attempt was perfect weather and really glad we waited. Only complaint was that our ticket had an old address on it, five minutes away. Was able to call the office, get a quick response, and make it to our flight with no issues.time. Flew with my nine-year-old son.
For my husband’s birthday on 7/24 we decided to fly with Mauna Loa Helicopter Tours doors off adventure over Kauai. While my husband had flown before, it was my first time. I was quite nervous, but more from excitement. I was the one who chose doors off. We checked in at the NEW LOCATION at 3748 Ahukini Rd. Lihue, HI 96766. Kalei welcomed us and gave us our time to come back to get ready for our flight. She then directed us to a lounge with restrooms across the street. Preflight preparation with Kalei. First, we watched a short safety video. Next, we strapped a flotation device around our waists. Kalei had us remove our phones from their cases to properly secure them in a holder with a wrist strap. Then we waited on the front bench for our pilot. Within moments, our pilot WALT, walked over and greeted us with a big smile and a hearty handshake. After chatting with Walt, all my fears vanished. He was happy, friendly, and confident. He truly was a cool guy that you do not mind hanging out with for an hour in helicopter. He shared lots of interesting facts about the island and we had a lot of fun laughs. Walt as a pilot was gentle but effective with necessary safety information. His instructions were clear and easy to follow. Getting in and secure was remarkably easy. The flight itself was smooth. We did have some light rainfall during the flight which made for a spectacular rainbow. The entire experience was magical. If you want to know what we saw on the tour, you will need to book the tour and find out. You will not be disappointed. If you end up with Walt as your pilot, you are in great hands. Have fun! Mahalo nui loa Walt, Kalei, & Mauna Loa Helicopter Tours. We have amazing memories, and photos that will last a lifetime. PS - Wear the heavy sweatshirt. You will need it.

Fantastic experience. Clearly a great way to see the island. Doors off is the only way to go. Lots of wind, no claustrophobic feelings. Safe and smooth.
Great tour! We were lucky that Christoph flew us, so we were able to experience the tour in German. That was perfect, especially for our 9-year-old son. We flew 'doors off'. At first it feels strange (especially since I have a fear of heights), but you get used to it very quickly and feel comfortable. You get a great impression of the island, especially of the Napali Coast. I was particularly impressed by the fact that they always fly over the highlights in such a way that you have a great view of the attraction, no matter which side of the helicopter you are sitting on. I would recommend it to everyone!! And prefer it to any boat tour! Thanks again!!
