Bàn Cờ, translates to “Chessboard” due to the way the market resembles the shape and design of the popular board game. From wholesale materialistic goods, medicinal items, fresh market vendors, and food vendors, this market is anything but peaceful. Yet to me, it feels like home. It’s a place where you have to get a little too close to strangers, smell and see things you’ve never imagined, and see what daily life is like for someone in Saigon.
Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon, officially Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of The Immaculate Conception is a cathedral located in the downtown of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Established by French colonists who initially named it the Church of Saigon, the cathedral was constructed between 1863 and 1880.
The Nguyen Thien Thuat apartment buildings (Vietnamese: Chung cư Nguyễn Thiện Thuật) are a complex of American-built historic buildings in District 3,
The Independence Palace, also publicly known as the Reunification Convention Hall, is a landmark in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It was designed by architect Ngô Viết Thụ and was the home and workplace of the president of the Republic of Vietnam (Ticket entrance 40,000 VND)
Nguyễn Huệ Boulevard (Vietnamese: Đường Nguyễn Huệ) is a boulevard in District 1, downtown Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.Being one of Saigon's oldest thoroughfares, the boulevard had undergone several transformations; it is currently a famous pedestrian street in the city
The Thien Hau Temple (Vietnamese: Miếu Thiên Hậu), officially the Tue Thanh Guildhall (Hội quán Tuệ Thành),[1] is a Chinese-style temple of the Chinese Goddess of Sea, Mazu on Nguyễn Trãi Street in the Cholon ("Chinatown") of District 5 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Binh Tay Market, constructed by the French in the 1880s, is located in the centre of Vietnam’s largest Chinatown district. Unlike Ben Thanh Market in District 1, this market mainly serves the local population with its extensive range of fresh fruits, vegetables, poultry, meat and seafood from regions across Vietnam.
Beneath a quaint little cafe in downtown Ho Chi Minh City lies a secret bunker that was once the hiding place of nearly two tonnes of Vietcong weapons used during the 1968 Tet Offensive, a turning point in the Vietnam War that was eventually won by the communist North.

Excellent way to see city, better value than a coach tour. Comfortable air conditioned private hire vehicle. Our guide, Happy, and driver, Nam, both great, varied the places we visited to suit us and our preferences. Managed to get to see so much in one day, even with the traffic! Would recommend to anyone.
