Itinerary

45 min

St-Jean features exceptional neoclassical architecture, a reminder of the economic prosperity associated with maritime life along the St. Lawrence River in the 19th century. St-Jean is also listed as one of the most beautiful traditional French-Canadian villages in the entire St. Lawrence Valley. The heart of the village recalls the importance of Catholic institutions and traditions in French Canada.

45 min

Ste Pétronille offers a breathtaking view of the St. Lawrence River, site of the most important naval battles of the British Conquest and, in the distance, the promontory of Quebec that Charles Dickens described as the "Gibraltar of America" in his story " American Notes" of 1842. The "New England" architecture of Ste-Pétronille dates from the 19th century, when Anglo-Canadian merchants fled the city to live safe from the cholera which struck the port of Quebec and Canada in the 1830s.

10 min

Magnificent view of Quebec City, a reminder of the importance of maritime traffic in the history of Canada. Admire the perspective from which many newcomers saw Canada for the first time.

45 min

Saint-Laurent, on the south side of the island, is rich in history with its contribution to shipbuilding. Historic village, you will be able to understand the relationship of this village with the St. Lawrence River. Founded in 1679, it is one of the jewels of Ile d'Orléans.

Beautiful tour but overpriced

Ile d’Orleans was very quaint and interesting and Naima was a wonderful guide explaining the history of the island. We stopped at a local fruit stand, a church, and a chocolate factory which was the highlight. The ice cream was delicious! We expected more of a park and walk tour and thought that despite being a good tour it was overpriced.

Operator response

Good day, Thank you for your feedback. Based on the distance it is not feasible to visit most of the island in a park and walk format, this is why pre-select stops to ensure you can have the most enjoyable experience . Have a nice day and thank you for your time. Best Regards
