Itinerary

30 min

Al ‘Āmrāt or Al Amirat is a city in Muscat, in northeastern Oman. Al Amarat is the fifth most populated province in the Muscat Governorate after Muscat itself, As Seeb, Bawshar and Muttrah. Al Amarat is categorized as a Wilayat with its own Wali office, municipality, police station, and government offices.

20 min

Mohammed Al Ameen Mosque (Photo Stop Only) is a marble-clad marvel located off the Southern Expressway, at a height of 62.5 meters above sea level in Oman. Construction of the mosque commenced in the year 2008 and was completed in 2014. The construction activity brought together designers, materials, technologies, artists and suppliers from Iran, Italy, Germany, Austria, India and the UK. It rests on an area of 20,300 sq. m. The main Prayer Hall is 1616 sq. m. and can accommodate 2,100 people. The Chandeliers – Main Prayer Hall is 11-metre tall and the Ladies Prayer Hall is 4.5 meter tall, are finished with 24-karat gold plating and Swarovski crystals. (Photo Stop Only)

30 min

Next is Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque Photo stop Only. "Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque", which dominates the skyline of Muscat. The mosque is square in shape which surrounds the central dome with a total height of 50 meters. The 5 minarets define the limits of the site representing the 5 pillars of Islam. The main minaret is 91.5 meters tall and the others reach up to 45 meters. The main prayer hall (musalla) can hold over 6,500 worshippers, and the women’s prayer hall (musalla) can accommodate 750 worshipers at a time. The outside paved area in the gardens can carry around 8,000 worshipers; and with an additional usable area for prayer in the interior courtyard and the corridors, making a total capacity of the mosque up to 20,000 worshipers. The total site area of the mosque is 416,000 square metres (102 acres) and the complex extends to cover an area of 40,000 square metres. This Grand Mosque was inaugurated by Sultan of Oman in the year 2001 to celebrate the 30 years of the Sultan Qaboos.

15 min

Then next is the Royal Opera House Photo Stop only. The Royal Opera House Muscat is Oman's premier venue for musical arts and culture. The opera house is located in Shati Al-Qurm district of Muscat on Sultan Qaboos Street.

60 min

Then after we drive towards to Muttrah Souk. The main attraction of Muttrah for visitors is the traditional market. This is one of the oldest souks on the Arab peninsula, although the building itself was rebuilt in the 1970s. A palm frond roof has recently been added to make it more authentic. Because tourists are a relative rarity this is very much a market for local people. The shopkeepers will try to attract the attention of curious visitors but not so insistently as in souks in more popular destinations.

15 min

Along the Muttrah Souk is the Muttrah Corniche. Muttrah stretches along an attractive corniche of latticed buildings and mosques; it looks spectacular at sunset when the light casts shadows across the serrated crescent of mountains, while pavements, lights and fountains invite an evening stroll or a bike ride.

30 min

Next Visit is Al Alam Palace. Al Alam Palace (Flag Palace) is the ceremonial palace of Sultan Qaboos and lays in the heart of Old Muscat. Built in 1972, the palace is a fine example of modern Islamic architecture. The official residence of the Sultan of Oman is regularly used to receive distinguished guests visiting the country. The sultan resides elsewhere day-to-day, but if the Omani flag at the palace’s main entrance is raised, Sultan Qaboos is home.

10 min

Al Jalali And Al Mirani Photo Stop only. Al Jalali Fort, or Ash Sharqiyah Fort, is a fort in the harbor of Old Muscat, Oman. The fort was built by the Portuguese under Philip I of Portugal in the 1580s on an earlier Omani fortress to protect the harbor after Muscat had twice been sacked by Ottoman forces. It fell to Omani forces in 1650.

10 min

Then next visit is Al Mirani Fort Photo Stop only. Fort Al-Mirani is a fort located in the harbor of the city of Old Muscat, Oman. The fort existed prior to the Portuguese invasion and was later rebuilt by the Portuguese in 1587. The fort became the first to use cannons in Oman Then after dinner back to hotels.

Excellent night tour of Muscat

We had a great four hour night tour of Muscat with Ahmed who really looked after us. He picked us up from our hotel and drove us to a number of interesting places such as the great mosque, the Sultan's palace, fort, opera house and the souk. He took lots of photos of us, bought us drinks such as Karak Chai tea, the famous and traditional Omani sweet called Halwaas, and a delicious meal of Khubz Ragag - a local bread dish often eaten at breakfast. However the highlight for us was the souk where he took us to all sorts of different stalls and helped us barter with the stall holders. It was a really fun and interesting tour. Ahmed is very kind and knowledgeable.

Fantastic tour in Muscat

My Muscat city tour with sunset with Oman Landscape Tours was a wonderful and very personal experience, made special by the people behind it. Mr. Moosa, my guide, was truly excellent. Knowledgeable, professional, and extremely attentive, he went above and beyond to tailor the tour to my interests. Knowing that I am passionate about perfumes, he kindly took me to several perfumeries, patiently exploring different options with me until I finally found my favorite scent. This level of care and flexibility made the experience feel genuinely personal. Throughout the afternoon, he also shared insightful explanations about Muscat’s history, culture, and daily life, helping me understand the city beyond its landmarks and giving real meaning to each stop. Everything ran smoothly thanks to Ms. Analiza, who handled the logistics perfectly. The itinerary was well organized and well paced, allowing the day to flow naturally and ending with a beautiful sunset at just the right moment. This tour was a perfect combination of discovery, personal attention, and memorable moments. Oman Landscape Tours once again delivered a high-quality private experience that felt thoughtful and authentic. A truly enjoyable and unique way to experience Muscat—made even more special by the small details that really matter.

Informative, relaxing evening tour of Muscat

We made a private 4 hour tour of Muscat in the evening. Our guide Jihad was very friendly and attentive. He gave us a lot of information about the sights and life of the Omanis. We were very impressed by his competent nature and would book this tour again. We also found the joint visit to a local fish restaurant nice at the end. Thanks again to Jihad for this experience.

Our guide Jihad was knowledgeable, personable, and keen to show us the delights of Muscat. We particularly enjoyed our time shopping for fragrances and sampling the sweets in the souk.
