Private getaway in the desert like no other

Description
Passionate about my profession for 22 years, and animated by this country in which I was born, I am destined to make you discover our traditions but also give you a different vision of Tunisia, the culture of this country and these landscapes are for me a daily discovery that I would like to share with you! You will especially see a diversity and change of landscape all 35 minutes from the sea to the olive trees we pass through a salt lake we cross the deserts of the pebbles to reach the mountain and we spend a night in the desert of sand. Culturally, it is very important to see how he lives Berbers in troglodytes and nomads in tents and it will be an opportunity to visit two families and know the origins and see the real local and local life

We spent two great days with Mohamed in southern Tunisia. He is a very pleasant, kind and passionate guide, who made our discovery of the desert unforgettable. We highly recommend it!
Much more than a getaway... 2 days of pure happiness! Mohamed is a human person, very pleasant, super professional, who knows everyone and who has a goal: to discover the hidden wonders of Tunisia while adapting 300% to his “clients”. An experience far from the tourist trails! The Sabria camp is just beautiful: the place and infrastructure, sunset, evening and meal, starry sky, sunrise...a magical place!!! I recommend 1000% for this getaway but also for all Tunisian excursions. Again thank you Mohamed for these discoveries and moments of sharing. Kisses of Estelle, Valentine, Louis and Jean.
Beautiful stay of 2 days and one night in the desert with family at 15 minutes... We were accompanied by a very good guide and 3 “drivers” to drive the 4x4s... I highly recommend!
Must-see experience. The night in the desert, in a "luxury" tent was very pleasant. The meal was very good. The animations offered were superb. I recommend
Amazing, unforgettable memories and our guide Bechir did everything so that we had time to enjoy. My boys and I loved it and this word is still too weak 😜 I highly recommend this fabulous experience!
Merci beaucoup
We had a fantastic experience on our desert safari in Tunisia thanks to our guide Hamrouni. He was very responsive and flexible, and adapted the excursion to our needs and capabilities, especially considering that we had children who could not tolerate heat. He arranged everything so we could enjoy without stress. All the activities we did, and the overnight stay in the tent were well organized and tailored to our family. From the first meeting, both the guide and the driver Ali were professional and punctual, and the driver drove safely and securely so that we always felt in good hands. Both were very nice, professional and good in English, and they also spoke several other languages. We really appreciated their concern, knowledge and commitment, which made the trip an unforgettable experience. Thanks Hamrouni and Ali. can be highly recommended!
Thank you
it was an incredible experience, we had unforgettable moments, we were lucky to have the guide Maher who took the time to explain everything, I recommend you to do this tour and especially to be accompanied by Maher
They offered us a Spanish guide, although they only announced him in English, which was a nice touch. Everything was well organized and we saw many beautiful places.
Because you are a Spanish it is normal to propose for you a good services with a Profesional tour guide sapanish speaker when it is possible our purpose it is the satisfaction of guests .thank you for your review
First of all, it started out being rescheduled by the guide to one day later. Luckily that worked with our schedule, but it became confusing when we realized that the ticket said we were going for two nights of accommodation, but it was actually only one night. It was not quite what I expected. It was not private. My friend and I were grouped with three others. The guide was fine, but didn’t speak English well so there was no in-depth commentary on history and culture that I was hoping for. We did not follow the itinerary as it was published. 1. We did not visit Tatouine. 2. While we had a traditional meal for lunch on the first day, it was at a restaurant and did not include gazelle horns (or water, for that matter, we had to pay for that) and we didn’t see the lunch preparation. 3. There was a stop at a trash-strewn natural spring. 4. At the end of the first day we arrived at a camp that seemed more like a deployed location than a traditional Berber tent and we did not admire sunset from a camel nor did we taste tea or eat traditional cake. Instead, we had an awesome quad ride to the ancient fort to watch the sunset and then came back for a very loud performance of traditional music while watching the creation of sand bread along with about 50 other folks who were also in the camp. The bickering teenagers that were part of our group were a delight to have at dinner. Ha! On the second day, we did not go to Douz nor did we see a camel market. We saw a commercialized location that was used in Star Wars and had lunch there, which was delicious (and we got some water this time!). We did not “witness the creation of traditional bread” or share a meal with a local family. On the way back to Djerba we got to see another area strewn with garbage in the midst of an olive field. The highlight was a stop for the guide to get coffee and we all got to have ice cream (and the teenagers got to bicker about it). The guide was kind enough to drop us off at a location different than the one we started with so that was helpful. It was also a little surprising that there wasn’t any recommendation of things to bring along to be prepared for the trip. It was expected to have some sort of scarf for protection from the sand and wind. But, I was able to use a t-shirt wrapped around my head to make the quad ride work! That was the most fun of the whole trip, even though we actually ended up at another garbage-strewn location during the “extended” ride. If you’re looking for something like “glamping” and a deeper cultural understanding in English (like I was) then this is not the trip for you. I truly enjoyed seeing the landscapes and the tribal architecture, but wanted more out of the experience.
Dear Jennifer_J Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review of your recent desert excursion. We’re sincerely sorry to hear that the experience did not fully meet your expectations, and we truly value your honest feedback, which helps us to continuously improve. First and foremost, we want to reassure you that our goal is always to provide memorable, authentic, and enjoyable experiences for all our guests. We’re genuinely disappointed to learn that this wasn’t fully the case for you. That said, allow us to clarify a few important points and provide some context: 1. Rescheduling the Trip The change of date was proposed due to logistical reasons beyond our control (such as weather or safety conditions). We’re grateful for your flexibility and are pleased it could still fit into your travel plans. 2. Number of Nights The trip was indeed a one-night, two-day experience, as described in the confirmed itinerary. We’re sorry if the ticket wording was unclear and will double-check it to avoid further confusion. 3. Private Experience vs. Shared Group Unless specifically booked as a private tour (which involves a different rate), our excursions are shared experiences. We try to keep group sizes small and balanced, but we understand that expectations may vary and are sorry this wasn’t what you had envisioned. 4. Itinerary Adjustments While we always aim to follow the planned itinerary as closely as possible, changes can occasionally occur due to local conditions, group timing, or logistical optimizations. However, you should have been informed and consulted beforehand, and we apologize if that wasn’t the case here. 5. Cultural Content & English Language Our guides do speak English, but we recognize that the level of fluency can vary. We’ll be following up with the guide in question to ensure better communication in future tours and offer them additional support. 6. Camp Style & Atmosphere The camp is a traditional-style site adapted for comfort (often called “Berber glamping”), and yes, it is a shared space with music and local bread-making included. Some guests love the vibrant ambiance, others expect more serenity—we understand both points of view and regret it wasn’t aligned with your preferences. 7. Garbage in Some Locations Unfortunately, waste management remains a challenge in rural Tunisia. This is a broader national issue, and while we work with local communities and NGOs to improve this, we’re also working to choose cleaner stops for our future tours. 8. Missing Elements (e.g. gazelle horns, Douz, camel market) Some optional or seasonal elements—like visiting Douz or markets—depend on local calendars, time of year, and availability. We regret if this wasn’t clearly explained and will ensure our future guests receive more transparent information. 9. What to Pack / Trip Preparation You’re absolutely right: it’s essential to prepare properly for desert conditions. We typically provide a packing list upon booking, so we’ll investigate if it was missed in your case and reinforce this step with our team. ⸻ Despite the above, we’re sincerely happy that you enjoyed parts of the trip—especially the landscapes, the Star Wars site, and the quad ride—and we deeply regret that your overall experience fell short. Your comfort and satisfaction mean everything to us, and even when things don’t go as planned, we want every traveler to feel heard and respected. We would love the opportunity to regain your trust. Should you consider returning to Tunisia in the future, we would be happy to offer you a special discount or a more personalized private tour as a gesture of goodwill. Thank you once again for your trust, your feedback, and for traveling with us.
Mohamed is very kind and knew how to tailor the program to what we needed, to add stops when we needed a break and knew how to adapt. You can feel he knows a lot and like to share what he knows, also gave us a lot of valuable suggestions that we'll use in the rest of our trip, and what we need to visit next. The program as it is was great we covered a lot of places in 2 days, the desert experience was something we will always remember, the staff in the camp was very kind as well and we enjoyed the Camel ride to see the sunset on the Dunes. The facilities on the camp were exactly what we needed and the food was great. One of the things we enjoyed the most was the visit to the berber house, we felt welcome and felt grateful to visit their house and eat fresh bread they prepared for us. Thanks a lot for the experience Stefanny and Juan Pablo
