The old Greek Monasteries blend in perfectly with the surrounding environment creating a once in a lifetime sensation. It is my most popular tour(more than 100 times a year)and there is a good reason for that. During the ride I will explain a lot about geology,history, orthodox religion,and the impact Meteora has had on Greece over the centuries.We will also talk about Greece and the Greek way of life. Since I've been doing this for so many years, I know the best traditional local restaurants, I know where are the best stops, where to go, we will visit the spots that are "off the map" for the majority of tourists, for you to take the best photos that you would otherwise miss, and to give you an unforgettable experience. The tour is fully customizable and can be tailored in your needs. Most travelers usually visit 2 or even 3 monasteries.

We pick you up! We have an almost 100-minute ride till we get to Meteora an optional short stop at a local icon workshop (10-20mins) Agios Stefanos is the one that has the easiest access Great Meteoron is the biggest of them all, (400 steps are involved) Roussanou Nunnery and Agios Nikolaos Anapafsas monasteries are small monasteries, both outstanding choices. Varlaam Monastery (closed on Thursdays and Fridays) is the one with the best view Of course, all of the open monasteries are good choices. Many people prefer not to take all those monastery steps (100-400 depending on the monastery) if that's the case we spend more time taking photos. So you can always decide on the spot what suits you best. Most people visit 2 monasteries, but if you decide to visit more it is not a problem for us. The scenery is outstanding and till now for every passenger, we've transferred an experience of a lifetime. optional: lunch or dinner at a traditional local restaurant

The monasteries at Meteora are breathtaking! It is a must see for anyone who goes to Volos or has the time while in Greece. Our guide was fantastic.

Our tour from our ship to the monasteries of meteora was excellent. Costis our driver and our guide was at the ship before we disembarked. He took us to three monasteries and would have added more if we wanted to but we had seen enough. They are wonderful and amazing; highly recommend. He made sure we were able to efficiently see all we wanted. He added a few ‘secret’ sites. It is well worth the extra cost of a private tour. Highly recommend this tour and guide.
Demetrius picked us up at the port….he was on time but we were confused…he was patient and we all made connections. Two of us (old and not eager to climb) asked to be dropped off at the village square to drink coffee and admire the view.). Two of us climbed and enjoyed Meteora. My son said “ the photos are spectacular, but they do NOT do the site justice! “. It was amazing and we were all glad to have seen and done what we could. Private tour gives access to many more photo ops and unique locations that the big bus tours do not get to. Our guide Costas was well informed of the area and kept us entertained for the journey to and from Meteora from our cruise ship. He was on time, polite and happy to answer all of our endless questions. Ask him to take you to the bakery outside of Volos. The treats are out of this world.

Great experience for the family and it was fully customizable for our reduced timeline. The monasteries were amazing to see, and we felt like we were able to do so much in such a short period. The recommended location for lunch was fantastic!
