After pick-up from your hotel in Berlin, you will drive for about 2 hours on the Autobahn before you'll enter Dresden. Prepare for a walking tour with all the highlights, such as Frauenkirche, which is a beautiful church that was reduced to a pile of rubbel during the war. After unification it was restored using the original stones. It is located in the center of Old Town.
Another highlight is the Zwinger, a beautiful baroque palace which can be viewed from the outside. Inside is a museum with an exquisite selection of paintings.
From the Bruehlsche Terrace you'll have a wonderful view over the river Elbe.
This astonishing mosaic concists of more than 20.000 porcelain tiles from Meissen. With a length of 102 metres (335 ft), it is known as the largest porcelain artwork in the world. The mural displays the ancestral portraits of the 35 margraves, electors, dukes and kings of the House of Wettin between 1127 and 1904.
After enjoying Dresden you will visit Meissen which is only 25 km away. Meissen is home of the famous Meissen porcelain as wekk as the Albrechtsburg and the Gothic Meissen Cathedral.

Thomas was the most engaging and knowledgeable tour guide we have ever worked with. We have done several around the world trips with private tours through Viatour and he is the best guide we have ever had. It was a very cold windy day, he noticed my chills and took out a blanket to make a shawl and gave me a brand new pair of his gloves!
