A great day trip filled with memories

We were picked up at our hotel by our guide, who impressed us with his extensive knowledge of history and events that formed Skopje. We headed to Mount Vodno and had an enjoyable ride with the cable car to the peak, where Millenium Cross is located. We enjoyed the views and some cold beers before continuing our journey. Canyon Matka was an absolute highlight of the trip, where we went on a boat trip and explored the caves. We also had a nice lunch at the restaurant at Matka Hotel and spent several hours in the area. Back in Skopje, we parked at the old fortress and walked our way through the Old Bazaar and over to the newer part of town. All the way we were told the history behind buildings, places and monuments that we passed, and it was a great learning experience for us. We had a great day exploring Skopje and its surrounding, and gained a lot of great memories!

Wonderful driver & guide

We did a sightseeing transfer from Sofia to Skopje with Rila Monastery stop on Dec 22. Our driver Igor came on time to pick us and the luggages. He is easy to communicate. He drives within speed limit. We can enjoy the scenic landscape and take many photos along the route. We had one hour stop at Rila Monastery and ample time to see the whole monastery. Igor bring us to a traditional restaurant for lunch. The food is good. He then dropped us safely at the apartment we booked. We had a great experience with Igor. He is always accommodating to our request and smiles all the time. We are happy to have him as our driver. We also booked a full day Best of Skopje with Skopje Daily tours on Dec 23. When we see Igor again as our driver, we happily greeted him. This time he bring a guide Oliver to join us. Oliver speaks perfect English and she is passionate and give us the best of Skopje. She never stop giving us details of history and culture on the sights along the route. We do appreciate her enthusiasm in ensuring we know and understand the sights. After visiting Matka Canyon and St Panteleimon monastery, we wanna get a closer glimpse of the Millenium cross. Igor drove us to a viewpoint. However the cross was covered by clouds and startled to snow. After a traditional lunch, Oliver started walking tour in new and old part of the city. We covered Makedonija Square, Old Bazaar, Stone bridge, Mother Theresa Memorial & end tour in Old Train Station around 5pm. During the walk, we understand deeply on the history and culture that carved Skopje as it is today. Specially thank Oliver for giving us her best.

Glimpse of Skopje

Lots of history about North Mecidonia. The tour guide was friendly, excellent service. The transportation from Bulgaria to Skopje was comfortable in a private van.

Interesting tour

Tony was well on time in our hotel. He is a very knowledgeable guide. He gave us a lot of insight information. Ha adapted the itinerary of the tour because of the heat. We did most of the walking in the morning when it wasn´t that warm. That way we had a great day!

Great Skopje Day Tour

Matka Canyon was beautiful and we took the boat ride on the lake to Vrelo Cave which were highlights of the tour. Our guide Toni was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of information throughout the entire tour. Due to wildfires, we could not access Millennium Cross, so the tour was very flexible and we Spent more time elsewhere.

Very complete tour. An Agency with Great Service

I booked directly through the Simonium Travel Skopje agency, which I found by chance and which offered the “best of Skopje” tour (not private) for a full day and at a reasonable price. The first part was walking and covered several important points of the new part and the old bazaar. In the afternoon we did by bus: Millenium Cross and Makta Canyon. This tour mixes 2 half-day tours. Unlike the afternoon, when there were several of us, on the morning walking tour, I was the only one enrolled. Despite this, there was no cancellation or cost overrun. The guide very attentive and informed and the sites visited of great interest. Thanks to the people of Simonium Travel
