Itinerary
Catacombs of Kom al-Shoqafa, This is the most impressive of Alexandria’s ancient remains, dating from the 2nd century AD. Excavation started in 1892, and the catacombs were discovered accidentally eight years later when a donkey fell through a chamber ceiling. A long spiral staircase leads to the main hall. The stairs run down the outside of a shaft, which excavators used to transport the bodies of the dead. The staircase leads to three floors of Amazing mixed art, Unique example that display's ancient Egyptian mixed with the Greco-Roman art in one place. at the same sight you will also see some other tombs totally cut and transferred to be displayed at Kom El Shoqafa.
Pompey’s Pillar (Serapium Oracle). Despite being Alexandria’s most famous tourist sight, Pompey’s Pillar is a disappointment. After all, it’s just a granite pillar—albeit at 88 feet, a very tall one placed on a hill surrounded by ruins. the pillar was misnamed after Pompeii's (106—48 Bc) by the Crusaders. In fact, it dates to the 3rd century AD, when i was erected in honor of the emperor Diocletian on the site of a Ptolemaic temple to Serapis. Helpful signs on the ruins name each virtually empty spot as a “pool” or “bath,” which to the untrained eye look like indistinguishable rocks, The late-model sphinxes lying around on pedestals add a little character, The most interesting element, ironically, is that from the hill you can get a glimpse inside the walled cemetery next door, as well as a view of a long and busy market street. & Corner of Amoud El Sawary.
See the Amazing Fort of Qaitbay also called the citadel of Qaitbay, it was constructed in 1479 ad. it was build to protect and fortify Egypt north shores from the crusades attacks. Also this fortress was build on the ruins of the Ancient lighthouse of Alexandria. there you will enjoy the best views of Alexandria and best fresh air ever.
The Andalusian style Mosque, on which the Al-Mursi Abu Al-Abbas Mosque was built, is characterized by domes and also the abundance of columns that support the roof, and also the minaret is tall, And also the arabesque and mosaic works within the windows and doors, and therefore the ornate mihrab raised from the minbar, all of this was evident inside the Abu Al-Abbas Al-Marsa Mosque, because it contains 16 marble and granite columns, and every column is one piece octagonal in shape, ending with a crown about eight meters high, four columns Ones of traction. Actually it's the main Mosque of Alexandria and it was built by Italian Engineer Mario Rossy.
The Library of Alexandria’s also know as Bibliotheca Alexandrina, ancient library was one of the greatest of all classical institutions, and while replacing it might seem a Herculean task, the new Bibliotheca Alexandrina manages this with aplomb. Opened in 2002, this impressive piece of modern architecture is a deliberate attempt to rekindle the brilliance of the original center of learning and culture. The complex has become one of Egypt’s major cultural venues and a stage for numerous international performers, and is home to a collection of brilliant museums.

We greatly enjoyed our city tour! Sally was such a welcoming and informative city guide. She navigated the sights with us smoothly and helped us even beat some of the crowds. She treated us to a coffee stop and an Egyptian treat local spot. Can’t thank you enough Sally!
All as promised. Great service and information. Excellent lunch. Well worth the reasonable cost for the private tour.
Shaina was a wonderful guide. We enjoyed her company as well as her information. Library of Alexandria was a great site to visit and the A/C worked very well. Each site had excellent historical value which we all enjoyed learning. Although we were very hot most of the time, it was cool to have the little van all to ourselves. Thank you for the informative and entertaining day.
Tarek was a great guide - very flexible and particularly strong on the catacombs and the citadel. Took great care to accommodate our dietary needs for lunch. Do give him a nudge to spend extra time at Pompey’s Pillar, so you can make sure you see the sanctuary and the old library. Greco-Roman museum is not on the tour, but was a great recommendation, and very, very easy to do self-guided after the walking tour.
We had an amazing day exploring the beautiful and historic city of Alexandria with our guide, Tori. From start to finish, the tour-organized, informative, and filled with unforgettable sights. We began at the impressive Fort of Qaitbay (Citadel of Qaitbay), where Tori brought the history of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria to life. From there, we visited the stunning Mosque of Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi, a spiritual and architectural gem. Next, we ventured underground to the haunting and fascinating Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa, followed by a stop at the monumental Pompey's Pillar, where Tori shared insightful stories that made the ruins truly come alive. One of the highlights of the day was the Bibliotheca Alexandrina — an inspiring modern marvel that beautifully honors the legacy of the ancient library. Tori was not only incredibly knowledgeable, but also entertaining, making history engaging and fun throughout the tour. We also want to give a big shout-out to our driver, Mohammed, who was absolutely phenomenal — professional, courteous, and made the journey between sites smooth and comfortable. We ended our tour with a delicious meal at Branzino Restaurant, where we enjoyed fresh local fish and creamy hummus while overlooking the Mediterranean Sea — the perfect way to wrap up a spectacular day. If you’re visiting Alexandria, don’t miss it — highly recommended!

An awesome food tour of Alexandria with Tarek! We were allowed to taste selected and special food and felt completely comfortable. All the food tasted great and we tried many new local delicacies. Along the way, we were given a guided tour of the city and explored Alexandria from a side only locals otherwise know. The tour was absolutely custom designed and adapted to our needs. The pick up and drop off service to the hotel was very pleasant. Best Food Tour in Town! Thank you Tarek!
The food tour with Tarek in Alexandria was just great! Tarek not only showed us a lot about the city but also made the tour incredibly personal and individual. We were led to local insider tips and even taken to a local supermarket where we were allowed to discover delicacies we would never have otherwise tasted. We were particularly impressed that we suddenly learned to love dishes we didn't really like ! He has always felt exactly what suits us and was very sensitive. The tour was pleasant and not too strenuous as Tarek dosed the walk well. Our conclusion: We would recommend this tour to everyone and recommend doing it right on the first day of your stay. Afterwards you are perfectly equipped to explore the city on your own. Thanks for the unforgettable experience – we couldn’t have asked for a better tour!
Our guide was TAREK extremely knowledgeable, courteous prompt and a lot of fun. We had the best day saw all the important sights plus more. Thank you for giving us such an enjoyable experience.
I had an amazing day exploring Alexandria with Tarek! He is very warm, kind, well versed in Egyptian history and clearly passionate about the subject. As a solo woman traveler, I felt very comfortable. The itinerary he planned was fantastic and he is hands down the best guide I have had on my trip! He very graciously accommodated my last minute request to visit the Greco-Roman Museum even though it wasn’t part of the plan and I really appreciated his flexibility. It would definitely recommend him to all my friends visiting Egypt!
