Itinerary
After we pick you up at your place we are heading south of Medellin. In this beautiful colorful and colonial city we visit different food stands just to pick the best ones to try out. Our first snack is the Chocolo Arepa. We are going to try the Chocolo arepa, which is a different type than the most common arepa, the white Arepa that you probably tried already. Chocolo Arepa is sweeter and has a different taste compared to the regular one, also more difficult to find in supermarkets. Some of our guests find the Chocolo Arepa similar to the Pancake, let's see what you think when you try it. Our second snack is a buñuelo: A fried dough ball. This snack is popular in many other countries but all of them have their own version of it. Our Buñuelo is made with cheese and the surface is usually crunchy, very common throughout the year but specially on christmas time. The place where we are going to try our Buñuelo is very traditional and makes huge and the most delicious ones.
What kind of food tour in Medellin would be this one if you don't get to try what we drink at parties and celebrations? Our next stop will be to try a sip of Aguardiente our traditional alcohol made from anise seeds. Since colonial times the Aguardiente has been part of our tradition and celebrations. Medellin's own “Aguardiente Antioqueño” has won several awards thanks to its quality and taste, that’s why we feel confident that you are going to like it. To make this drinking experience even more exciting you will try it in a place full of customary taverns in Medellin, where the Aguardiente has been traditionally drunk: Fondas Paisas. To help wash down the Aguardiente we will have our next snack: Empanada. Empanadas are a mold of pastry filled with potatoes or rice and ground meat, usually fried. We normally eat them with “salsa rosada” (pink sauce, a combination between mayonnaise and ketchup) or “ají”, a local spicy sauce. We´ll provide 4 different sauces to try them out.
After the empanada we are going to try a very particular piece of meat, it is a delicious and addictive spicy sausage that we call "Butifarra". However, people think that is an acquired taste, let's see what you think when you try it!! Our final destination is one of the most magical places in this city. It's a coffee farm owned by the most gracious and kindest farmers where we are going to try authentic and mind-blowing home made food.
At this farm we won’t only going to try these delicious treats but we will also get to try a local specialty: Colombian beer mixed with a soda drink called “Colombiana”, what’s more local than that? Locals call it Refajo and it's totally worth the shot as it is refreshing and not as bitter as a regular beer. But what kind of food tour this would be without trying a traditional dessert? Well, we are giving you a very special one, it´s all grown in the farm and it consists in: ripe plantain, guava and melting cheese, this would be the perfect way to stop eating for this amazing night. We are having a unique product only found at this farm, the COFFEE TEA. The coffee Tea is a product we are developing, it has an amazing taste different than coffee, take the tour and find out the fruity notes. The vibe of this place is amazing, the view over the city from there make it the perfect final stop of this memorable foodie experience.

Loveeeeeed our tour guide… such a sweetheart, she knew alot about the food and the empanadas were to die for, 10/10
Absolutely amazing experience! Ericka was incredible from start to finish — so friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire tour so much fun. The food was delicious at every stop, but honestly, she was what made the experience truly special. We left completely full and already talking about coming back to try more tours. Definitely come hungry because there is plenty of amazing food! Highly recommend!
So fun. Got to see a great little town with very colorful scenery. Food choices were great. Our guide, Laura, was absolutely amazing. She shared a lot of local information and was fun! She was so easy to be with and the conversation never faultered. The food choices were amazing. Really was great to get out of the tourist regular spots and see local culture!
My wife and I had a fantastic experience with Sara as our guide. She picked us up at our hotel and took us to a local market to try exotic Colombian fruit. We had never tasted anything like it. We then headed to Sabaneta, a very charming part of Greater Medellin. We went to several small restaurants and tried various types of Colombian food. It was delicious and we felt fine the next day! However, the real highlight of the tour was Sara’s knowledge and engaging, friendly personality. She shared insights about history, culture, local life and even local plants. Thank you, Sara, for a truly memorable day. We look forward to our next tour with you.
Great experience. Received confirmation prior to the tour date and updates in the day of as there was a slight delay due to traffic. Very good communication.!!! The tour was informative and there was plenty of food and drink. Andres made accommodations for some of the food preferences of our group and really went out of his way to give us a great experience!!! It wad nice to get out of the city and see how locals live. We had a great time and highly recommend the tour!!!
We just completed a Private Medellin Food Tour with Erica as our guide. We had an absolutely amazing time with Erica. Her english was perfect, she had a great sense of humor, and was able to provide us full details snd history about the food we sampled. She was also willing to share some of here family history so we had a better understanding of the culture here in Colombia. Would highly recommend.
We thoroughly enjoyed the food tour and Ericka was a total blast. We had so many laughs and she was very informative. You couldn’t have picked a better person to guide us 4 as we got along just fine right from the first introduction to us saying good bye.
Sara was great, it was really nice to get away from the touristy areas and hang out in the neighborhood and eat local food. Sara did a great job with explanations and context for the area and Colombia in general
Erika was an absolutely amazing tour guide! She is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, caring, and full of energy—it was clear she truly loves what she does. The city tour was fascinating, and the food tour in Sabaneta that followed was fantastic and truly authentic. We got to try so many local favorites, from chocolo, crispy bunuelos and empanadas (which were seriously to die for) to morcilla sausages and refreshing sugarcane juice. Every stop felt thoughtfully chosen, and Erika made the experience both fun and meaningful. This was easily a highlight of our trip, and I highly recommend Medellin Day trips! Excellent service & attention to detail.
Very interactive tour. English speaking guide. Our tour guide Erika was excellent and very informative.
