After a scenic drive to the hills above ancient Ephesus, you’ll visit one of the most peaceful and spiritually significant sites in the region — the House of the Virgin Mary. This house believed to be the final residence of Mary, the mother of Jesus and this modest stone house is recognized as a sacred pilgrimage site by both Christians and Muslims. We will explore the house itself, the small chapel and holy fountains said to bring blessings. Also you can enjoy the gardens surrounded by pine trees and offering a tranquil atmosphere. Your guide will share the historical background, religious significance, and stories of the miraculous events associated with the site. Whether you're drawn by faith or simply curious, this stop offers a moment of quiet reflection and cultural insight in a serene natural setting.
Be ready to step back in time as you explore the ruins of Ephesus. Ephesus Ancient City is one of the best-preserved Greco-Roman cities in the world. It was a thriving port city and major center of culture, commerce and religion. You can take a glimpse of like over 2000 years back when you visit Ephesus. As you follow your professional tour guide through marble-paved streets lined with remarkable structure such as Library of Celsus, the Grand Theater, the Temple of Hadrian and the Fountain of Trajan, your guide will bring the city's past to life with stories of Admire intricate carvings, Roman baths, mosaic floors, and remnants of temples that once drew worshippers from across the ancient world. Your guide will bring the city’s vibrant past to life with stories of emperors, philosophers, merchants, and saints who once walked these same streets as you walk among these timeless ruins. This stop is the heart of the tour, a journey through history, architecture, and ancient wonder.
A glimpse into the daily life of Ephesus’ wealthy elite with a visit to the beautifully preserved Terrace Houses, also known as "Houses of the Rich." On the slope of the city’s hill and protected under a modern glass roof, these ancient homes reveal stunning examples of Roman domestic life. Here you'll see mosaic floors, intricate frescoes, private courtyards, marble walls, and even ancient plumbing systems — a testament to the luxury and innovation of the time. Unlike the grand public monuments of Ephesus, the Terrace Houses give you a personal, almost intimate connection to the people who once lived here. Your guide will walk you through the architectural details and stories behind these homes to provide you a deeper understanding of Roman culture, art, and family life. This stop is a true highlight for history lovers and anyone seeking to go beyond the surface of Ephesus. Note: Entry requires a separate ticket and includes stair climbing. My main purpose for booking this journey through Viator was to visit the lonely remaining column of the Temple of Artemis. She was my previous Goddess and is still close to my heart. This is a trip not to be missed and I was lucky to have a wonderfully gregarious guide in Derya. She is an absolute delight, full of energy and knowledgeable about the history of Ephesus, the incredibly moving House of Mary and the Temple of Artemis. The site of Ephesus is unbelievably huge, well preserved and a place of wonder and magic. From my perspective it eclipses the Ancient Roman Forum, and that's saying something. And, even if your not a Christian you can't help but feel the tenderness and loving devotion in the serene mountainous, tree covered setting of the House of Mary. There is not a lot to see at the Temple of Artemis as I have mentioned but you should go there because She was the Goddess worshipped at Ephesus and when you arrive at the grand finale, The Ephesus Experience Museum, you will be glad you did. Thank you for a magnificent day Derya and Viator. I very highly recommend this tour.
