Private Dresden day trip from Prague by Mercedes van

Description
One of the European miracles is coming to life just right now in Dresden (Germany). A city with almost 800 years of history was completely destroyed by bombing within 28 min in the World War II. Now it raised from the ashes after 70 years of sensitive reconstruction as a result of unbelievable effort and strong will of local people. Today you can admire its beauty. The Church of our Lady is one good example as well as the famous Semperoper, Royal palace, Procession of Princes or baroque complex Zwinger.

Itinerary
Your private guide and driver will pick you up at your Prague place. After approx. 2h of comfortable drive you reach Dresden in Germany and start exploring the historical centre of city raised from ashes after devastating air raids in World War II. The importance of Dresden grew with time. From a city known as town of “people from forests and swamps” it became a royal residence and major city of Saxony. You will enjoy the exteriors of restored historical centre (Old Town) of Dresden: - Brühl's Terrace - Church of our Lady - stony bell above the city - Procession of Princes (800 years of history) - Zwinger baroque complex - Royal Palace - Semper Opera etc.
Discover the breathtaking Zwinger Palace in Dresden (exteriors only), a stunning masterpiece of Baroque architecture that once hosted royal celebrations and now houses world-class art collections. Stroll through its grand courtyards, majestic pavilions, and beautifully sculpted gardens. It's a must-see cultural gem that brings Germany’s royal past vividly to life.
Step through the historic Georgentor, Dresden’s first Renaissance building and once the royal entrance to the city. Its ornate façade and dramatic location near the Elbe River make it a perfect photo stop and a gateway to Saxony’s regal past.
Marvel at the Dresdner Hofkirche, a towering symbol of Catholic resilience in a predominantly Protestant region. This majestic Baroque cathedral stands as a testament to Saxony’s royal legacy and architectural splendor.
Experience the elegance of the Semperoper Dresden, one of the world’s most beautiful opera houses, renowned for its stunning architecture and rich musical history (exteriors only). It’s a cultural highlight not to be missed.
Explore the Residenzschloss Dresden, a former royal palace that now houses dazzling treasures like the Green Vault and the Historic Armory (exteriors, visit of the interiors optional). Its blend of Renaissance and Baroque architecture makes it a fascinating journey through Saxony’s opulent past.
Admire the Fürstenzug, the world’s largest porcelain mural, depicting a thousand years of Saxon rulers in stunning detail. This unique artwork survived the burning hell created after the massive bombing of Dresden 1945 and stretches along a historic street.
Stand in awe before the Frauenkirche Dresden, a magnificent Baroque church rebuilt from wartime ruins as a symbol of peace and reconciliation. Its soaring dome offers breathtaking views and a moving story of resilience (visit of the church tower optional, admission not included). After the visit of the church you will enjoy yummy German lunch in a local traditional place with a beer from its own historical microbrewery (lunch not included).
Step into a winter wonderland at the Dresden Christmas Market, one of the oldest and most enchanting in Europe. With festive lights, handcrafted gifts, and the aroma of mulled wine and roasted almonds, it’s holiday magic at its finest (only at the time of Christmas, few weeks in Dec-Jan).

We had an excellent time with Michal our driver. He was very personable and knowledgeable. We have used private tour guides rather than a group bus tour for our recent trips to Europe and the additional expense is well worth it. This way you can have your excursion personalized by someone who gets to know what you and your family want to see and can spend more time on those activities. For Prague and the Dresden excursion michel was great. Thank you and we will always remember the trip fondly
Comfortable,. The vehicle was clean and driven well. Michael, our guide was very friendly, informative and made us feel welcome and safe. Tour was leisurely and kept pace with our Need well.
Michal was absolutely wonderful with our group. His deep knowledge of Dresden & the area was truly impressive. He is incredibly accommodating & such a pleasure to spend time with. Don’t hesitate to book any tour, transportation, or excursion with him!

This is awesome, thank you for your feedback so much! Dresden is definitely worth visit, this "Florence on Elbe" that raised from ashes is a cool reason to cross the German border for a while :-) Thank you Warm greetings from Prague Michal
We were very fortunate to book a private tour with Michal of realpraguetours. He brought us around to Brühl's Teŕrace, Church of our Lady, Royale Palace, Semper Opera among others. His interesting talk about the city that literally rose from the ashes was accompanied with pictures of the city during WW II on his phone. We enjoyed a sumptous lunch and even visited a large shopping mall. It was a day ttip from Prague on a comfortable van back and forth. Would definitely recommend Michal to my other family members and friends and readers on this platform.
Thank you so much for your great review! Dresden has a unique history - like a Phoenix that rose from ashes - a powerful story of humankind for its endurance and desire to come back to life. It was my privilege sharing its stories and history with you. I'm happy we found a good balance of the day for all members of your family with a great lunch and a bit of shopping too! It means a lot that you'd recommend me to your family members and friends—thank you again, and I hope to see you or your loved ones someday! Greetings from lovely Prague Michal
Michal was an outstanding guide and driver. He came equipped with images on a wide number of the buildings, destinations and buildings we visited. We could have spent 2 more days in tours with him, and he’d have still not had time to give us his full knowledge. Michal has a respectful, friendly and charming personality and presentation way. We highly recommend Michal for a driver and guide.
