Established over a century ago along the banks of the Msheireb wadi, Souq Waqif began as a weekend trading hub where Bedouins and locals exchanged goods like livestock, spices, and textiles. The name “Waqif” reflects the practice of merchants standing to display their wares due to the area’s tendency to flood . In 2003, a significant fire led to a comprehensive restoration in 2006, aiming to preserve its traditional Qatari architecture and cultural essence .

We booked both the city tour and desert safari, and both exceeded our expectations. The city tour covered all the main landmarks with a knowledgeable and friendly guide. The desert safari was perfectly organized—thrilling with beautiful sunset views, camel ride and a great overall atmosphere. Everything was punctual, safe, and well managed. I even booked my return to the airport with them. I highly recommend.

We had an amazing experience with this company. So much so we used them for a second excursion during our 4 day layover. The private and bespoke experience catered to our 2 small children in the Doha summer heat. Both vehicles used were excellent, clean , fully air-conditioned and comfortable. Both drivers were friendly and offered us great information on Doha and the desert.
