A unesco heritage place. Worth viewing but to get there is quite a pain. If you go with a group tour, they will be trying to get you to buy things on route so a private tour is preferred. If you go on your own from Xiamen, it can be a very long journey.
Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on your private tour to Chuxi Tulou. We appreciate your honest comments and are glad to hear that you found the UNESCO site itself worthwhile. We fully understand your point about the journey to Chuxi Tulou. As it is located in a mountainous area, the road conditions can indeed be challenging, and this is something that is beyond our control. However, we always strive to make the trip as comfortable as possible for our guests by providing a private, clean, and comfortable vehicle, as well as a dedicated private guide who is focused solely on your group’s needs. These are advantages that group tours cannot offer, and we hope they helped to make your journey more pleasant. We’re sorry if any part of the experience didn’t meet your expectations, and we would be happy to hear more about your thoughts so we can continue to improve. Thank you again for choosing our private tour, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you on another trip in the future. Best regards,
Chuxi village is worth a visit. About 2.5 hours drive from Xiamen. Few tourists in December 2025. You get a great view from the hilltop and can visit a few tulou of different sizes. Unlike other villages the tourism signage is not as prevalent which makes the experience more immersive. You can also get a good meal in the village. The guide himself had fairly limited English skills, and very limited knowledge to share about the history and culture of the area, which was disappointing. That said, I would definitely recommend visiting tulou if you can.
Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts about your visit to Chuxi Tulou. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the village, the scenery, and the local atmosphere—it truly is a special place. Regarding your comments about our guide, we always take feedback very seriously. Our team of local guides are long-standing professionals with many years of experience in Fujian tourism. They possess deep knowledge of tulou history, Hakka traditions, and the surrounding areas, and they are passionate about sharing these stories with our guests. While our guides are comfortable communicating in English during tours, we understand that language styles can vary, and sometimes nuances may not always come across as clearly as we would like. We continuously work with our guides to enhance their language skills and ensure that every guest feels fully engaged and informed. We appreciate your understanding and are sorry if the experience didn’t fully match your expectations. Your feedback helps us grow, and we will continue striving to deliver the best possible service. Thank you again for choosing our private tour. We hope to welcome you back in the future and create an even more memorable journey for you. Best regards,
I had a great tour with Adam. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. He gave a great overview of the area's rich history, and he was very easy to talk to. He's truly passionate about the Tulou and Fujian history. I would highly recommend the tour. Thanks so much for a great day!
