The starting point of your oenological journey will make you discover very colourful, powerful and harmonious wines and the terroirs on which they are produced. These wines will defy time in your cellar. The Médoc, which extends over 80 km, is a peninsula that takes shape north of the Bordeaux conurbation and ends at the Pointe des Graves. The wine route, which crosses it, is long and winding and gives you time to discover a mosaic of plots, dotted with castles of very different styles, sometimes flamboyant, sometimes romantic, sometimes austere. You will be amazed by this mythical road.

Not a castle tour

I believe the title of this tour is misleading. It is a winery tour not a chateau tour. I specifically asked in a text message if this would allow us to look around inside the chateau’s and was told that yes it would, which was not the case. Driver was great and tried to point out lots of lovely buildings but not a castle tour as promised.

Operator response

Dear Barbara, I have read your review, and it seems you are misunderstanding the word "chateau", or castle if you translate it into English. A chateau, here in the region of Bordeaux, is a wine property, and it doesn't mean you will find a huge building, and any museum related to the history of a castle. You already knew that, as you already had a tour with one of our competitors a few days before. These chateaux, if something else than only a wine making facility is present, are the houses where the owners of the wine properties live. And these owners are inviting in their houses only their families, or their close friends, like anyone would do. So in no way would you visit the inside of these mansions or castles, except the wine making part. The description of our tour is quite clear and precise, you would cruise on the chateau road and see a few of these wine properties, it is not said anywhere that you would come inside the private house of the chateau. When you asked us about visiting the chateau, we told you that you would visit the technical part inside the chateau, what you did in the three chateaux you visited. We never talked about anything else, any museum, nor any private part. So your review is not fair, it is even dishonest. This one star review is not at all the reflect of the enjoyable day we had together. I haven't heard at any time any complain, or bad remark from you about the choice of the chateaux, you even bought some wine, in addition to the fees paid to the chateaux, because you found it delightful. I really don't understand why you are penalizing us with a one star review, as we did nothing wrong, and I explained you and your friend, what we call a chateau in the Bordeaux region, and that it is done so for two centuries now. You may have not noticed it, but you were not in the Loire valley, and we are not organizing visits of the castles of the kings of France. What we do is organizing wine tours in the chateaux, i.e. wine properties, of the Bordeaux region. We never pretended to do something else. You may tell it was a misleading, ok, but it is a misleading because of your misunderstanding of what a chateau in the region is, and probably also a bit of unfair attitude of you. That is bad to be noted like this, for a high end tour, that went nicely, and which you enjoyed very much, as you told me on our way back to Bordeaux.

A birthday trip to remember!

We plan unusual, potentially once in a lifetime, experiences for special events- my wife or my Birthdays, or our Anniversaries. This was one of the best we have done. The driver Hugo was all that we could have asked for and more. From the minute he arrived in a stretch BMW sedan, we knew we were in for something special. We had a private tour and tasting at three grand cru chateaus. Stopped by for photo ops at 5 others and he took us to an ecellent restaurant in a charming location. It was obvious the staff everywhere we went knew him. His English was excellent, his demeanor was more of a friend showing us around. He was patient with our photo taking, and took shots of the two of us. Your company is fortunate to have such an excellent tour director.
