Description
Visit three different castles around Cardiff in one day. Starting with Caerphilly Castle, the largest Castle in Wales. After exploring the Castle, you will be taken to the magical Fairy-tale Castle, Castell Coch, nestled in the hills to the north of Cardiff, overlooking the Welsh Capital. Depending on how long you spend at Caerphilly Castle and Castell Coch, you may have time to visit the 900 year old Llandaff Cathedral. Finally, you will be taken to Cardiff Castle in the heart of the city, where you will be left to visit the Castle, and independently explore the city centre and its Victorian arcades. You will be free to explore Caerphilly Castle, Castell Coch & Llandaff Cathedral independently in your own time and at your own pace returning to your driver in your own time, who will be ready to move on when you are. Please Note: We are unable to accommodate luggage on this tour, and each person will be limited to one backpack / small bag

Built in the 13th Century, Caerphilly Castle is the largest Castle in Wales, famous for its water defences, and its leaning tower. Built by Gilbert de Clare to control the local population, construction of the castle was opposed by local Welsh rulers who attempted (and failed) to destroy the castle whislt it was under construction. It's impressive water defences have been described as "the best water defences of any castle in the UK"

SO MUCH VALUE! GARETH was such a great tour guide. If you’ve traveled to Cardiff, take the private tour! You see so much of the castle that’s not on the general admission tour. It’s unbelievably beautiful in the clock tower that’s only on the private tour.

This was a very cool experience. It wasn’t quite what we expected. We thought we’d have our driver or someone at the venue tour us through the castles and cathedral but that was not the case. The first castle had a virtual story that you could read/listen/watch as you went though the place. It did provide lots of interesting details of the life of some of the people that lived there but you do need to pay attention to the direction you go so you follow the story. The second castle was an audio tour (came with the payment to enter) and it was fairly informative and once the speech was done in a room it gave you options to learn more about different things you might find interesting. And there was no tour through the cathedral, we just walked through. It was all beautiful and absolutely amazing. We had a wonderful time! And would recommend but just wasn’t quite what we had expected. Our driver was also very friendly and had lots of information to share about Cardiff, the surrounding areas and its history. We had a great time with our driver!
Hi Madison, sorry for the confusion about having someone with you to guide you around the Castles & Cathedrals. Our guest usually prefer being able to explore and discover the various places we take them all over Wales independently at their own pace, so we tell them about the places we are taking them too, and once we arrive there, we let them explore in peace. Our guests have told us they very much like this "hands off" approach. I have now updated our listing, to make this clearer to those who wish to take this tour in the future. I'm glad you still enjoyed the tour and had a wonderful time however and hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Wales
It is interesting to know tree diferent linda of castles. One very Richter decorated, another a simple one. , and the third in the midle!

Wonderful experience getting outside of Cardiff and seeing more of south Wales. The castles were beautiful and we had a lot of time to explore.

Dave was a super guide. I absolutely enjoyed every minute of this tour. The inside of Caerphilly was closed but the outside is spectacular by itself. Castle Coch is a great experience and Llandaff Cathedral is definitely worth visiting.

We enjoyed the tour and the chance to get out of the city. Wish that Caerphilly Castle had been open to the public, considering how far we traveled, as that was one of the reasons we booked the tour. But our tour guide was prompt, very kind and good natured, and easy to converse with. We were grateful for his time, patience, and expertise.
