Bodrum Castle (Turkish: Bodrum Kalesi) is a historical fortification located in southwest Turkey in the port city of Bodrum, built from 1402 onwards, by the Knights of St John (Knights Hospitaller) as the Castle of St. Peter.
The Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology was established in The Bodrum Castle in 1964. Initially, restoration of the castle was the priority; later, exhibition halls were created in the available space. Today, there are 14 exhibition halls in The Museum of Bodrum. As is clear from the name of museum, it includes mostly underwater artifacts.
The Theatre at Halicarnassus,[also known as Bodrum Antique Theatre (Turkish: Bodrum Antik Tiyatrosu, usually shortened as Antik Tiyatro), is a 4th-century BC[Greco-Roman theatre located in Bodrum, Turkey. The theatre is considered to be built in a similar style to Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus
Shopping is a real pleasure in Bodrum, with its many shops lined in the narrow streets between whitewash buildings. Leather goods of all kinds, natural sponges and the local blue glass beads are among the bargains to be found in the shops of the city centre. Leather, carpet, jewellery, copper and souvenir shops are lined on both sides of main streets like Cumhuriyet and it’s often hard to resist the urge to walk in and start bargaining with the shopkeeper as you sip on the drink that’s offered to you as you enter. Look out for unique double-knotted Turkish carpets or kilims, steeped in the history and tradition of Türkiye. These carpets symbolise many different faces of Turkish culture.
Etrim Village Carpet has been selling high quality Turkish carpets and kilims since 1986. Etrim's extensive collection offers styles for today´s home and office needs in a variety of designs. The history of weaving in Turkey goes back 2000 years and Turkish carpets and kilims are appreciated across the world for their quality and beauty. Each individual rug design takes months to complete and reflects a blend of beliefs, symbols and messages to reveal a desire or wish. Since the 19th century, Turkish kilims and carpets have been used to decorate homes and offices across the world. I reached out to Private Tours Bodrum super last minute, and Erkan got back to me right away and somehow managed to put together an amazing private tour for the very next day. Talk about service! He paired me with Lela and, honestly, she is hands down the BEST guide I’ve ever had anywhere. Lela is not only incredibly knowledgeable about Bodrum’s history and sights, but she’s also warm, funny and so full of energy. She showed me both the major attractions and some amazing off-the-beaten-path gems, places I would’ve never found on my own. I had a proper Turkish coffee the local way and ate at spots where only locals go. It felt really authentic! You can tell everyone in Bodrum knows her. People kept waving or stopping to chat, which made the whole experience even more personal and fun. She really made the city come alive for me. Also, a huge shout out to our driver Ali, who was super kind, professional and always ready right when we needed him. The van was spotless, comfortable and first-class. All in all, this was by far the best private tour experience I’ve had. Great value for the price too. If you're in Bodrum and want something special, this is the way to go and, if you can, ask for Lela. You won’t regret it!
It was a pleasure guiding you. Best regards
Communication before was fantastic. Was waiting for us when we got off the cruise ship. The expensive jewelry shop was our first stop and not our cup of tea. But the rest was great once he figured out what kind of shopping we wanted. We would book again in a heartbeat.
