Wat Phra Kaew, commonly known in English as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and officially as Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram, is regarded as the most sacred Buddhist temple in Thailand. The complex consists of a number of buildings within the precincts of the Grand Palace in the historical centre of Bangkok.
Wat Pho, which is the oldest temple in Bangkok and houses the Reclining Buddha, a 45-meter-long statue that depicts Buddha entering Nirvana. Wat Pho is also ‘‘Thailand’s first university’’ and houses a wealth of art. It is still an important center for traditional medicine, such as massage.
Houses the world’s most giant solid gold Buddha Statue, which is three meters tall and weighs 5.5 tonnes. A fine example of Sukhothai art the statue was once covered in Stucco and colored glass to conceal its true value and was rediscovered during its relation in 1955.
Wat Arun, also known as the temple of Dawn. It is one of the most attractive temples in Bangkok and one of its highlights is the Khmer-style Pagoda.
