Great hidden tour

This was a great kayak and hiking tour, to some really cool little spots. Kayak portion was a little over 2 miles but all down river so super easy. Hike was very muddy and about a mile or so. The tour guides showed us some pretty cool spots where some movies were shot(Indiana Jones and Pirates of the Caribbean) and we swam in some of the falls they did some movie shots in too! Great hidden tour if you hate super crowded areas!

Operator response

Beautiful and do-able!

The kayaking is peaceful and you are surrounded by gorgeous scenery. Our guide, Meagan, was very knowledgeable and helpful! She gave us the right amount of guidance and freedom! We were worried at first about the hike and footwear- she did it barefoot- not that I recommend that, but water shoes or closed toe strapped sandals will be the best bets on this one because you’ll definitely want to try out the rope swing! So much fun! Our captain Nick on the boat ride back was great too! An amazing family experience we will never forget!

Don't miss this tour!! It will absolutely be a highlight of your trip!

So much fun!! A definite highlight of our trip. Haylen was our tour guide and she was incredible! Outfitters Kauai should absolutely give her a raise!! She was easy going, lots of fun, super easy to chat with, made sure everyone was well taken care of and had any assistance they needed, maintained her energy and excitement through the entire tour, and was just really truly fantastic! We lucked out and had her again for the outfitters Kauai adrena-Zipline tour - also highly recommend!! She was made for this job! I have never kayaked before and the kayak ride was still very doable for me. (Definitely had sore arms the next day haha) It's a beautiful route down the river and then a gorgeous hike to the falls. Definitely go swim by the falls 😍 the lunch was yummy and filling and the whole tour was just perfect!

We had a great group of paddlers, which made it fun. Michael was so knowledgeable about Hawaiian history & told it well. He and Nick took good care of us.

Operator response

Aloha GinneyE, Mahalo for the excellent review and recommendation. Michael and Nick are five star all the way. We hope to see you again for another fun adventure.

Relaxing, intimate, beautiful experience

We were fortunate to have Tony as our tour guide, whose quiet and friendly demeanor made the trip so enjoyable along with his stories of local legends. There were only four people on our tour so it was very intimate and peaceful with an easy kayak down the river to a nice little hike at the end up to some beautiful waterfalls where they did some filming of Pirates of the Caribbean four. We debated doing this one versus the Wailua river tour and heard that the other one is much more busy and crowded so we enjoyed The more quiet setting of this one. Definitely wear water friendly hiking sandals, and if you plan to jump into the pool near the waterfall or do the rope swing, wear your swimsuit.

Operator response

Aloha Johlerfam, Tony is five star all the way. Mahalo for noticing and for the kind words and great description. Hope we see you again.

Something for everyone!

This was good for our party of 9: family of 5 (kids 8, 10, 12), plus two grandparents in their 70's and an aunt and uncle in their 30's. You will ride in a tandem, so if your party size is odd, you'll buddy up with a stranger or guide. My athletic (but minimal arm strength) 10 & 12 year old were paired up and ended up getting towed by the kayak one of our guides rowed (thanks). Sore arms, but nothing too much. Muddy walk that a grandparent 3 months out from a hip replacement could do, albeit slower. Rope swing into the muddy water was a hit with the kids. Little fish (minnows?) that nibbled on my toes were fun. Capped it off with a small waterfall good for photo ops. It was great for our mixed skill/fitness levels (kids and grandparents being the outliers there).
