Stunning experience

Wonderful experience. Muxtorjon is a reliable, kind, and helpful driver. He took us from Samarkand to Bukhara, passing through Nurota, visiting Lake Ayurdal (delicious lunch) and sleeping in the Yurta Camp. The evening at the Yurta Camp was pleasant, with local cuisine, music, and camels. On the second day, we departed for Bukhara with a stop at a ceramics workshop. Jahongir travel is top-notch!

Best driver and camel experience

The driver escorted us through our experience from morning to the next night. They were very friendly and put us first. The camel experience was also a memorable desert activity. If you come to Uzbekistan, please try it!

Great yurt camp

It had good experience in the Yurt camping and star glazing. Even I booked online, everything was informed clearly. The driver Mirshod also made a different for the trip. He always used Google Translate and share information with me. He bought me ice-cream and played good music. When I had a mild heat stroke, he checked if I have medicine or could drive me to buy them. I was being taken care of well. The lake itself is so so due to the water and mud with lots of insects. On the way from Bukhara to Samarkand, I think it is good experience in the desert. Thanks

Nice Desert Tour from Samarkand to bukhara

The Tour was pretty nice. We liked a Lot that we had enough time at each location we visited. However we did not expect the yurt camp to be so big and visited by 4 busses as we were just travelling with 3 people by car. Our Driver was really nice and helped us a lot. He could not speak English very well, but he managed it very good by translator.

Wild, safe, clean, recommand the whole trip but not necessary the night on the Yourte.

Our Driver Ali has been very kind patient and flexible, we highly recommand him. Same for the organisation of the trip jahongir travel. The Yourte camp was clean, hot shower. The only bad things are that nobody really welcomed us explaining what is the place, why here, so the experience was very poor. Not sure the night there is a plus. The lake and the lunch at the lake were good, specially is your driver arrive forts so you have the whole place for you! So thanks to jahongir travel for the precise organisation and specially to Ali our driver.

Really good support from Jahongir on every activities in Uzbek. Wi surely use their services if come back

Found Jahongir on internet and was fully supported with 2 nights trip in yurt camp and mountain village near Nuratau mount; train tickets and walking tour in Samarkand. Zafar is the best tour operator I’ve known. He understood my request better than myself!

Poor description

The description of the tour is beyond poor, it doesn’t state that the trip starts in Samarkand and ends in Bukhara. We started in Samarkand needed to go back to Samarkand, informed the driver of this but once we noticed that he was going to Bukhara we where demanded 50USD extra to go to Samarkand where we had hotel, car and rest of luggage. Rude person on the phone demanded the money. Very disappointed. We where not taken to the ancient wall paintings and never informed of stop duration. Car didn’t have AC, driver did not speak English and driving was rough, got stopped by traffic police once.

The good, the bad & the ugly

Here's the text with grammar and minor stylistic improvements: Yurts are quite authentic, spacious, and have beds to sleep in. The bedding is very firm and not super comfortable. It can be very cold at night, so bring warm clothes. All in all, if you like camping, then go for it. The food served is simple yet quite tasty and comes in good portion sizes. For the evening entertainment, there was a Kazakh singer. He was not bad at all; however, after singing only 6-7 songs, he was done. Moreover, he took off his hat and walked around the circle asking for money. Tourists felt pressured and had to give him some tips. The absolutely revolting part was the camel ride. The animals are grossly mistreated. A couple of camels were clearly in pain, groaning every time their handlers made them kneel down and get up. All animals had punctured noses with wooden sticks, and one had a heavy metal bolt through its delicate nose. The weight of the metal made the camel's nose hang to one side (see the picture). Do not ride the camels. It's not worth it, let alone give the handlers tips! The ride was included in the price, but they asked for 20-30k of local currency nonetheless. Do not encourage animal cruelty!

Operator response

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for sharing your honest feedback and for taking the time to describe your experience in detail. We’re pleased that you found the yurts authentic and enjoyed the local food, but we’re truly sorry to hear about the issues that affected your overall impression of the visit. We want to assure you that Jahongir Travel strongly condemns any form of animal mistreatment. The camel rides are organized by an independent camp operator, but we take this matter very seriously and have already contacted them to review and address the situation. We will continue to work only with partners who meet ethical and humane standards. We also appreciate your comments about the evening performance and guest comfort — this helps us improve how we communicate expectations about the desert stay experience. Thank you once again for bringing these concerns to our attention. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us ensure every guest’s experience is both authentic and responsible. Warm regards, The Jahongir Travel Team
