We cooked, at first glance, very complex meals for a single soul, so I will no longer bother to cook these meals.

I rate 5 of 5, It was really nice and very well spent afternoon, the chef - Vaclav Neckar was very experienced and helpful.

non-enviromental

The environment was fine, the food was fine, I think it's a success that 3/4 of the dishes tasted good, the only thing that is a big negative for me is the waste of food and not recycling. I wouldn't say if it was in a big restaurant where there wasn't room, but here it seems almost crazy that scraps and often parts to eat from vegetables that weren't exactly fitting are thrown in the trash and worse along with all the other waste, including plastic. I think that since the classes are in a market with lots of surrounding space, perhaps it should be mandatory to at least sort the plastics. It's not very common, even to compost, but all the more reason to try to do so, since they use so much of the vegetables and have so much waste from them. Plus, this isn't a courtyard housing development where anyone could complain. I wouldn't take this course for that reason anymore.

Cooking class - Argentinian sirloin steaks

I had a great time in the cooking class. Chef Lukas was super nice, funny and very professional. The meals were cooked in small groups (3 persons on average) and were universally delicious.

Just what I wanted

I wanted to cook traditional Czech dishes and that's what we did. This hands-on class and market tour was fun and informative. I now have recipes to use for family dinners not found in my extensive cookbook collection. I like to take cooking classes wherever I travel and this one is as good as I've taken around the globe. If you like to cook this class will enhance your trip.

Extremely unsatisfied

From reading the other reviews for this class, I was extremely excited to book this activity. It seemed like a great thing to do & that we would learn and do a huge amount, due to their advertised ‘hands-on’ role. This was extremely far from the truth. The market tour was essentially a waste of time. We were showed to stalls and told ‘these sell x because they are in season’. There was no interaction with the stalls or actual purchasing of ingredients. No information about what to look for and what not to look for. When we actually got to the kitchen to begin ‘cooking’, it was beyond basic. Everything was pre-prepared aside from cutting some vegetables and frying some onions. Most ingredients were actually frozen, including the mushrooms and bread, which made no sense to me due to the market being right next door. Even the meat we used was cheap chicken thighs which was completely precooked for us, and we didn’t interact with it at all. I’m so genuinely upset at how disappointing my experience was considering the price we paid, which rivals the same as a tasting menu in some of the top restaurants in Prague. The ‘course’ was even finished at 11.30am instead of the advertised 1.30pm. I’m not sure if I just got extremely unlucky or if I had different expectations, however I know for sure that I’ll be doing more research before booking this sort of activity again.

Get out of a tour and cook!

Looking for something different than a tour? Don't get me wrong, I love tours, but for something different, do a cooking class. We made Garlic Soup, Roasted Pork with dumplings, and strudel. Absolutely delicious!

Recipes we want to make at home

Vladimir is a real pro, star of hundreds of YouTube videos. The cooking was hands-on and the results were delicious. The traditional Czech soup will definitely make an appearance at our house in the winter. The teaching kitchen takes a little time to find in the maze of market halls so allow an extra 10 minutes. Most of all, the class is fun. Come hungry.
