70+ Poonhill Trek Challenge Our Easy Middle‑Age Hike Together

The last time I visited Poonhill was in October 2023. After a few years, coming back this March, I was greeted with a completely different scenery—it’s the season of blooming rhododendrons. Walking into the forest or across the mountain ridges, I felt as if I had stepped into a sea of flowers. Bright red, purple-red, and pink blossoms mesmerized me with their beauty. How lush and breathtaking it all is! Additionally, on this trip, I accompanied two ladies in their seventies. Everyone was concerned about physical fitness, experience, and safety. Thankfully, we made a wise decision to once again invite Mission Himalaya's guide, Birendra Duwadi, to lead us. He, along with the porter, took great care of our group of ladies in their sixties and seventies. For those with weaker physical strength, he arranged horses at the right moment. Notably, during the climb to Poonhill (3210m), when horses were not an option, Birendra and the assistant guide personally held their hands the entire way, offering encouragement. In the end, they successfully reached the summit. For friends experiencing trekking for the first time, something that initially seemed “completely out of reach” eventually became a reality. Finally, Birendra's team is so professional and compassionate. With their assistance, you are sure to succeed—“age is not a problem”! Lastly, compared to a few years ago, the teahouse facilities have improved significantly. Many rooms now come equipped with charging stations, bathrooms, and washing facilities, making the stay very comfortable. Coupled with the stunning snow-capped mountains, scenic ridges, and delicious traditional food, it truly is a perfect journey!

GHOREPANI POONHILL SUNRISE TREK IN 2026

It was a splendid experience to be guided by birendra duwadi for a trek to Poon Hill in the beautiful season of Rhododendren (laaliguras), the national flower of Nepal. The interary was well planned, yet never short of emergencies accommodations. When issue such as an elderly lady failed to scope with the bad weather and declining physical condition, birendra was able to arrange suitable programs and transportation such as the jeep and horse riding as transportation to the Besides, I was able to eat local food such as Dal Bhat, the popular and traditional food for centuries, join the Fire Worship by the river side etc.

Poonhill trekking - great experience!

After last year’s success with Mission Himalaya, we decided to go back to Nepal; this time we have chosen Poonhill trekking. Considering the fact that we are “beginner hikers “, we were not sure if we could do this. However, Mission Himalaya team, in particular Birendra and Pradeep, were very considerate and made the hiking very comfortable! Great organization as usual! And the view is unbelievable! Thank you, guys!
