Itinerary
Admission is for the day of booking, and is not limited to a particular time of the day. Relax and unwind at Rotorua’s Polynesian Spa – a world-leading, natural mineral bathing and luxury spa retreat. Geothermal waters nourish the skin and relieve tired muscles, aches and pains, while decadent therapies rejuvenate through ancient and modern techniques. Combined with the healthy café, Polynesian Spa restores the body inside and out. The world-leading natural hot mineral bathing and spa treatment facility was built on the site of historic bath houses for which the city first became world famous in the 1800s. The Spa continues to evolve and focus on health and wellness, introducing passive and active bathing experiences for increased immunity and greater energy levels. At Polynesian Spa, elements of early buildings and baths have been carefully retained and the site is registered by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust. This ticket provides access to the premium bathing area 'The Deluxe Lake Spa' which includes a range of mineral rock pools at various temperatures. Utilizing both alkaline and acidic mineral springs, the Deluxe Lake Spa is ultimate in geothermal bathing experiences. The therapeutic waters at Polynesian Spa come from two different natural springs: The Priest Spring is named after Father Mahoney, a Catholic Priest who was ‘cured’ of his crippling arthritis from bathing in the waters in 1878. The slightly acidic water from the Priest Spring relieves tired muscles, aches and pains. The Rachel Spring is a source of alkaline water, which features the antiseptic action of sodium silicate nourishing the skin. It was historically said that those who bathe in the waters of the Rachel Spring are blessed with ageless beauty The combination of these two types of mineral waters is only found at Polynesian Spa.

Beautiful experience, I recommend it to those traveling to Rotorua; the place is very clean with a wonderful view.
I recently had the opportunity to visit Polynesian Spa, and it exceeded my expectations. During my visit, I experienced the Deluxe Lake Spa, a couples massage, and a private bathing experience, and each part of the experience was exceptional. The Deluxe Lake Spa offered stunning views over Lake Rotorua and a relaxing atmosphere that made it easy to unwind. The facilities were well maintained, clean, and thoughtfully designed to create a peaceful retreat. Our couples massage was fantastic. The therapists were professional, attentive, and tailored the treatment to our preferences, leaving us feeling completely refreshed and relaxed. The private bathing experience was the perfect way to complete our visit. Having a secluded space to soak and enjoy the mineral waters in privacy made the experience feel truly special and luxurious. What really stood out, though, was the hospitality. The staff was welcoming throughout our visit, and the gentleman who looked after us was genuinely one of the sweetest hospitality professionals I've encountered. He was warm, friendly, attentive, and made us feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived. His kindness and enthusiasm elevated an already amazing experience. Polynesian Spa offers much more than just spa treatments, it's a complete wellness experience. I would happily recommend it to anyone visiting Rotorua and will absolutely be sending clients there in the future.
Thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review. It is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed several of the experiences we offer, from the Deluxe Lake Spa and private bathing to your couples massage. Creating opportunities for guests to slow down, reconnect, and experience the benefits of our geothermal mineral waters is at the heart of what we do, so it is rewarding to know each part of your visit contributed to that feeling. We also appreciate your kind comments about our team. Hospitality is such an important part of the Polynesian Spa experience, and we will be sure to share your feedback with the staff member who looked after you. Knowing that their warmth, attentiveness, and genuine care made a lasting impression will mean a great deal. Thank you as well for your recommendation. We look forward to welcoming you back to Rotorua for another relaxing visit in the future. Warm regards, The Polynesian Spa Team
MY DETAILS: Mihir Thakker Date of access: 24may2026 Time of card swipe at reception: 9.17 am Nz time Amt: $339.80 for 3 adult 1 kid for delux pools Very pathetic reception staff.. we visited yesterday with my family and upon card tap.. it was #figure it out mode.. no instructions nothing . We booked delux pools and they just told to follow signs.. "go right".. that's it. Me and my family were lost at family pools..I asked lifeguard where are delux pools she was shocked reception staff did not guide you ? We were roaming here and there for 15 mins and we somehow figured ourself out the lockers and change room seperate for delux pools area. After experience we were observing the same staff were personally showing each areas to other European and American customers.. Same story places different.. hard reality Racist staff do exist at polynesian thermal pools specially reception.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to read that your arrival experience did not meet expectations. Our Deluxe Lake Spa is accessed via a separate entrance and changing facility, and guests are normally directed to follow the clearly marked signage from reception. We appreciate that on this occasion you felt the guidance provided was insufficient and that finding your way took longer than it should have. We take any suggestion of unequal treatment extremely seriously. Polynesian Spa welcomes guests from all backgrounds and nationalities, and our team is committed to providing the same level of service and respect to everyone who visits. Following your review, we have investigated the concerns raised, including the timing provided, and have spoken with the relevant team members. While we have found no evidence of discriminatory behaviour, we recognise that your experience left you feeling otherwise, and we regret that this was your impression. Your comments have been shared with our reception leadership team as a reminder of the importance of clear arrival instructions and guest orientation, particularly during busy periods.
Great setting, good value for money and clean changing rooms. Massive compliment to the young girl at the cafe. She engaged well, was very informative and the presentation of my purchase was beautiful. I will be back.
Thanks for that great review of our cafe team. We are glad you had a lovely time soaking and hope to see you again soon.
The value for money for the experience I had made me feel special
Thank you for your review. It's lovely to hear that you appreciated the range of experiences on offer and the little touches that helped make your visit memorable. Knowing you felt the experience delivered excellent value makes your feedback especially rewarding. We look forward to welcoming you back.
We chose to do the private pool experience as we felt it would be more relaxing after a long day. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The spa itself was probably not quite what we had imagined and could have done with a bit of a clean before we went in. The view over the lake was pretty but we only had a limited view as there are fences topped with security wire on either side of the space restricting a more expansive view of the lake. 45 minutes was definitely enough time in the spa and we all felt ready to head to the cafe afterwards. We had ordered the grazing platter for 2 which was well loaded and the large drinks selection was excellent. Overall we had a great time and would definitely return to try out the public pools next time.
Thanks for sharing this, it’s great to hear the private pool helped you unwind after a long day and that the team made you feel welcome. Just to clarify for others reading, the side screens are there to create privacy so each pool feels fully enclosed. Nice to hear you enjoyed the grazing platter and café afterwards, and we’ll look forward to welcoming you back to try the main pools next time.
Such a lovely spa day. Very relaxing and had some great views.
Thanks for sharing this, a relaxed day with those lake views is a nice way to spend time here. Glad you were able to enjoy it.
This was the second time at this outside spa and the first time at night! The sunset was incredible and it was so peaceful lying in the pools until... a man started talking on his mobile IN THE POOLS loudly in another language. I decided to move along to another pool. I did find a quieter spot but I couldn't believe guests were speaking so loudly on their phones with no consideration for other guests. PS There are signs up regarding speaking on phones but no one from the spa enforcing it!
Thanks for coming back again and for sharing this. An evening soak around sunset can be a really peaceful time, so it’s disappointing to hear that was interrupted. You’re right, we do have signage in place around phone use and noise, and your feedback is a helpful reminder that this needs to be more actively managed to protect that atmosphere for everyone.
We took the Deluxe spa formula and we indulged ourselves for a first experience we wanted a moment of relaxation the place is wonderful and beautiful On the other hand people are very noisy and are not respectful of others at all it spoke very loud and spread hanging on their phone and yet well indicated on the signs no phone no brief noise to enforce at this price we ask for calm
Thanks for sharing this, it’s great to hear the setting and overall experience stood out for you. We understand how important a calm environment is, especially in the Deluxe Lake Spa, and it’s disappointing to hear this wasn’t the case during your visit. Your feedback is a helpful reminder for us to keep reinforcing those expectations so everyone can enjoy a more peaceful soak.
Great service and experience. Love the fact that the spa has private pools where you can relax before the treatment. My massage therapist was very professional and such a sweet person, she is from Bali but unfortunately I forgot her name. Never had a massage with running water, it was just relaxing and unique. This place is a must when visiting Rotorua
Thanks for sharing this, it’s great to hear how much you enjoyed both the treatment and the overall experience. Starting with a private soak before your massage really helps you settle in, and the Aix-style treatments with water flowing can feel quite different to a standard massage. We’ll pass your kind feedback on to the team as well.
