Phuket Elephant Sanctuary Canopy Walkway Tour

Description
Phuket Elephant Sanctuary is the first ethical elephant sanctuary in Phuket where elephants roam around, bathe and sozialize freely across 30 acres of lush, tropical land bordering the Khao Phra Thaeo National Park in North East Phuket. We buy all rescued elephants to ensure that Phuket Elephant Sanctuary is their final home, and we offer professional veterinary care for old and injured elephants. By visiting us, you are supporting a sustainable, ethical and compassionate approach to elephant tourism where elephants have the freedom to live naturally. National Geographic, Lonely Planet and The Guardian have all endorsed our ethical approach.

Just an experience to understand more of elephants other than the tourism performance. So happy they can enjoy rest of their life at the Phuket Elephants Sanctuary.
Incredible, a visit that has meaning, respect to the people who make this possible
Great experience, transfer was easy with good communication beforehand about timings. The sanctuary is beautiful and all the staff friendly and responsive. Our guide for the walkway tour was knowledgeable about all the elephants and great at her job, friendly and engaging. Opportunity to go down to the forest to get a closer view of some elephants was unexpected and a nice surprise. 90 minutes was perfect timing for us especially in the heat. At no point did we feel like we were invading the elephants space and felt like a positive ethical solution to seeing these fabulous animals whilst also supporting their care after enduring such sad treatment before coming into the sanctuary. The story behind the bull elephant being treated for a broken leg left me with mixed emotions knowing that he will go back to logging if successfully treated, felt counterintuitive to what the ethos of the sanctuary is about. Nice to know that the sanctuary is evolving though and has recently stopped tourists hand feeding for the benefit of the elephants. Would recommend to others 🙂
This trip is as ethical as they come. The Mahout that cares for each animal, comes with them from wherever they are rescued from to look after them. The whole family lives at the sanctuary and gets involved supporting the sanctuary. Our guide, Yaya, was so knowledgeable and lovely as well. She shared stories about every animal and knew them all by name. We had to wear awful wellies but they were clean and so were the socks we were given. The refreshments were lovely and plentiful. We were given cold water and they let us use an umbrella to keep off the sun or rain. We got to walk on the same level as the animals which was breathtaking and unexpected. Yaya described some of the injuries they treat in the elephant hospital. Their current resident broke his leg falling down a mountainside fighting another bull during mating season! I would suggest this trip to everybody... fantastic!
I had a great time with my female tour guide nicknamed Ice Cream. She told me a lot about the elephants in the nature reserve and was always ready to take photos and videos when I wished. Furthermore, she made it possible for me to see the individual elephants up close, apart from the loner elephant and the oldest one, whom she affectionately named Granny because they are rather reluctant to have close human contact. My tour guide always kept an overview and made sure nothing happened to me by telling me how close I could get to the elephants and where I should best stand. Really beautiful pictures and videos with the elephants were created. In general, the atmosphere was very warm and the service was very good.
Tour exceeded expectations. We were picked up from our hotel. Our tour guide Woody gave a lot of interesting information and got us up close to the elephants, which was a surprise. Special enhancements, such as cool towels, flavored sodas, snacks, and a special gift made it extra special.
We only had 90 mins available before catching a plane but the San teary was really helpful in squeezing us in. It was well worth it! A great environment yo see rescued elephants at peace in a natural setting from above and close up. The guide was very helpful and knowledgeable.
The tour was wonderful, very informative and our guide was lovely. Plenty of opportunities for some stunning photos while seeing the elephants enjoying themselves in a safe environment. This is a truely ethical sanctuary and worthy of your money and time 💖
Amazing people doing great things here. Our world needs more places like here!
10/10 highly recommend!! This was an amazing experience! The elephants are well taken care of! All of the tour guides are knowledgeable!
