Peles and Cantacuzino Castles Small Group Day Tour from Brasov

Description
The tour to Peles and Cantacuzino castles comprises beauty and history in one. Peles is Europe's first electrified castle with all modern utilities including central heating, running hot and cold water, central vacuum cleaner, an electrical elevator and much more already from the beginning of the 20th century. Visiting Peles Castle is almost like being inside an art work itself, every step we take inside we get mesmerized by every small detail, the different carvings, paintings and furniture piece competing with well known castles and palaces around the world. Cantacuzino Castle was the summer home of a well known politician of the 19th century Grigore Cantacuzino. He used to be one of the wealthiest man in Romania at that time and decided to construct this authentic monument with a breathtaking panorama to the Bucegi Mountains. The Castle constructed in Neo-Romanian architectural style is surrounded with alleys and pathways which lead to fountains, waterfalls and small caves.

Itinerary
Drive from Brasov to SInaia approx. 50 minutes. The expansive, Bavarian-style Peleș Castle was built among a lush forest to house Romania’s royalty in the 19th century and is among the most beautiful in Europe. A guide will lead you through many of its immaculate, ornate rooms, still adorned with luxuriant furnishings and décor. You’ll also have the chance to tour the neighboring Pelișor Castle, a smaller royal residence decked out in art nouveau finery.
The Sinaia Monastery, located in Sinaia, in Prahova County, Romania, was founded by Prince Mihail Cantacuzino in 1695 and named after the great Saint Catherine's Monastery on Mount Sinai in Egypt. As of 2005, it is inhabited by 13 Christian Orthodox monks led by hegumen Macarie Boguș. It is part of the Bucharest archdiocese. The Old Church was built in 1695. In 2006, it was closed to begin a restoration project to return it to its former beauty. The original interior painting was completed by Pârvu Mutu and were restored for the first time in 1795. The Old Church has reopened as of 2016. Lunch break about 30-45 minutes.
Drive to Busteni about 20 minutes. Cantacuzino Castle got a completely new vibe in the new "Wednesday" series. Cantacuzino Castle from Busteni was built and inaugurated in 1911 at the wish of Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino (also known as “the Nabob”- prime minister of Romania between 1899-1900 and 1904-1907). The castle, built in Neo-Romanian style, is surrounded by a park which take you to the grotto, cascades and fountains. The Reception Hall houses a unique collection of heraldry in Romania. The building made of bricks and stone stretches over a surface of 3148 sqm. The decorations give the interior a strong romantic ambiance. The fireplaces made of white stone and bearing polychrome mosaics complete the atmosphere of a manorial residence, increasing the value of the building. The castle holds an unique collection representing the coat of arms of the Boyar families related to the Cantacuzino family members of the Wallachian side. Drive back to Brasov about 40 - 50 minutes.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear you had an amazing day exploring Peleș and Cantacuzino Castles with Tudor. The scenery along the way and the views from the castles really are special, and we’re so glad the experience felt like a “must do” activity. Tudor will be very happy to hear your kind words.
I had a great day on my tour to visit Peles and Cantacuzino castles. Being the slow season for tourism I was concerned they wouldn’t have the tour if no one else signed up, however they did and I was really appreciative because I really wanted to see the castles and I was leaving the next day. The company was very communicative and helpful with information. The tour guide Tiberiu was extremely nice and full of so much historical information. It was not only such a beautiful trip seeing the land and castles but made for a really valuable lesson in Romanian history. The castles are stunning and the land around them as well. Highly recommend this company for tours and when I come back to visit I will definitely book more through them. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review, Liane! We’re really happy we could run the tour for you, even during the quieter season, and that you were able to visit the beautiful Peles and Cantacuzino Castles before your departure. We always run our tours with a minimum of 1 guest, so travelers can still enjoy the experience even during the low season. It’s wonderful to hear that you enjoyed the landscapes, the castles, and the insights into Romanian history. We’ll be sure to pass your kind words on to Tiberiu—he will be very pleased to know his knowledge and enthusiasm helped make the day special. Thank you as well for recommending our company. It was a pleasure having you on the tour, and we would be delighted to welcome you back for more adventures in Romania in the future!
We had a great tour to the two castles. Our guide Charlie picked us up on time at the hotel and guided us through the two castles. He gave us a lot of information, also on other topics that interested us. Charlie is a super nice and fun guide. We'll be back!
We visited on a Sunday and there were crowds at the castle sites so we were glad to have Dan as our guide. He was most helpful in explaining the complexities of the royal families and indeed the shifting complexities of the nationalities in the Balkans
We thank you so much for reviewing our guide and our Peles and Cantacuzino Castles Small Group Day Tour from Brasov, Rob!
This visit is very interesting, and our guide Alex gave us a lot of information about the magnificent Peles Castle and its historical context. Additionally, Alex was very kind and patient in answering all our questions.
We thank you for booking with us a second tour, our Peles and Cantacuzino Castles Small Group Day Tour from Brasov, Iban! Indeed, it is an amazing tour with a great guide, Alex.
The tour was completely insatiable, with a guide named Charlie having extensive knowledge of history and castle details. He was such a wonderful guide. It is possible to see the castle alone, but it is definitely better to have a guide. It was super efficient, especially if Kantakouzino Castle was to be incorporated. I couldn't stop wondering what the rooms were for in the castle and how they were decorated. I went to five or 60 rooms in Perez Castle alone and he explained everything in detail. There were large groups of people on tour, but the small number of people on this tour allowed us to ask almost one-on-one questions and they did us a favor. I asked him to arrange a visit to the Château de Périchore and he was happy to include it. The time I got back to Brașov was just right at 15:30, and when I said I wanted to go home, he took me straight to the Brașov ropeway boarding area. Everything is in English, so even Japanese people who understand English somewhat are definitely recommended
We appreciate a lot your very detailed review for our guide and our Peles and Cantacuzino Castles Small Group Day Tour from Brasov! It is a wonderful experience, especially in a small group tour (maximum 7) and having with you my good friend and guide, Charlie!
Amazing trip, could not have been luckier with Dan as our tour guide. He was very professional and made everything interesting and fun. Would highly recommend. If we would change anything we would maybe skip Cantacuzino castle, but everything else was very interesting to see.
