What looks so simple was...

What looks so simple was quite difficult for this non baker. Our baking teacher emphasized preciseness in a fun and lively exchange. Those with prior baking skills fared better. Taking cooking classes in a foreign city promotes instant camaraderie.

Do it…you won’t regret it!

This was a great hands-on workshop! Filipa was a wonderful host and instructor; she included bits of historical and cultural information into it and was exceptionally personable.

Nice start to our time in Lisbon!

So much fun and informative! The finished goodies were delicious. We loved the instructor and the pastry shop in which we took the class.

Creative

Really instructive class (7 of us) on how to make both the puff pastry and the cream custard filling from scratch. Phillipa was fearsome in keeping us all right as we took turns to create and roll the pastry without destroying the layers. Moulding the pastry to the tins was also a skill. However the results were delicious and I so enjoyed the class. I ate both of my pastel de natas.

Best Baking Day

Both this class and the bakery were delightful. Great way to learn the secrets of creating traditional Pastel de Nata, and gain baking skills and friends along the way. Filipa (and helper, Beatrix), we thank you for a fun and delicious day!

So fun!

This was a very fun way to learn hands on about the cultural connection of Pastel De Nata, as well as make our very own. The instructor was so friendly and very funny. We laughed through the process, and got to enjoy the results. A small and unique experience

Delicious results.

I attended the cooking class with my son and his partner. Felipe was very detailed in her instructions. i didn’t realize how much work was involved in making these delicious pastries. She helped us with all the techniques. and they came out perfect. she was very friendly and gave us a great recommendation for dinner. The class is a bit pricey, but i’m not sure another one would be as detailed.

A great way to gain appreciation for the Portugal National Snack

I’ll never be a professional pastry chef, but our instructor was and she made it LOOK so easy! We learned that making Portugal’s National Pastry is very much an art. Our instructor Filipa made moving the dough without breaking it look effortless, but we needed a lot more practice! The class was very informative, hands on and ended with eating the results of our efforts. We gained a real appreciation for the Pastel de Nata considering some of the process must be done by hand even for the pastry shops selling thousands a day. (We did everything by hand.) Filipa Is a pro and guides us through process, explaining every step and correcting our mistakes without making us feel bad for them. It was a very fun thing to do!
