We had a great time with Eleanor, the chef/teacher. She showed us how to make three different types of pasta and a quick delicious sauce. We ate it with a glass of wine and a cheese platter from the shop over the road - also friendly and no hard sell, just enjoy our produce and buy some if you want. Just be careful to leave enough time for parking if you are driving. We found a park outside the old city and then walked for around 15 minutes - easy if you know! So glad we signed up for this - and then wandered around Assisi and saw the amazing basilica. Well worth it. Enjoy!!!
We started the experience with a tasing of the local wine, olive oil, and cheese which was a nice added bonus. It was an amazing experience hands on experience making pasta. There was only 2 of us to make it personally rewarding.
My wife and I had an excellent time learning how to make authentic pasta and tiramisu with Eleanora in Assisi! Despite a bit of a language barrier, she was a thorough and patient teacher, and we had a lot of fun with her. It ended up just being the two of us who signed up, so it was a very intimate experience. A word of caution, however - just make sure you check in with your host about expectations and dietary preferences before you arrive. We interpreted "food allergies" too strictly and did not write that my wife is a vegetarian, and so she was unable to eat the pre-prepared ravioli stuffing. Eleanora told us that if she had known, she would have just made a cheese filling instead of meat. That was totally on us. The other mix-up was that there seemed to be a miscommunication between Viator and whatever system Eleanora was using. The description for the class I signed up for explicitly said "pasta AND tiramisu" class, but Eleanora's description only said pasta. She was confused, but she wanted us to be happy, so she scrambled and was able to cobble together a delicious tiramisu for us to take back to our hotel for later. We even got to taken some of our pasta home with us!
If you really want to learn how to make pasta, Eleanora is the teacher for you! She demonstrates, then helps each student with their technique. Very informative and fun to learn a new skill. She cooks some of what you made, then you take some “home” to cook later. This is not a full meal, but at the end of class it is very satisfying to taste what you made, while enjoying a glass of wine!
Eleanora was wonderful.. Class was so much fun and informative.. A must do! this was a great experience for our family. Great bonding experience. Paula Winter Bel Air, Md
We paid a substantial amount—$1,127.42 CAD—for five family members to attend this pasta-making class. I understand that booking through Tripadvisor increased the cost compared to booking directly, but even so, the value simply wasn’t there. The Cesarine was noticeably unfriendly throughout most of the class, which made the experience uncomfortable and far from what we had hoped for. There was no opportunity to take notes during the session, and despite reaching out to the chef on three separate occasions afterward, she refused to share the basic recipe we used. We went home—after spending all that money—and still don’t even know how to make the pasta we were taught. Her responses were dismissive and rude, and I have copies of the messages to support that. For the price we paid and the lack of hospitality both during and after the class, I would not recommend this experience.
Dear Sir or Madam, Thanks for taking the time to bring this to our attention. We always aim to deliver a great experience, and we are gutted when we don’t meet expectations. You are of course entitled to receive all the recipes you prepared. I recommend you to reach out to us at booking@cesarine.com and give us more details for us to investigate the issue further. Thank you again for bringing this matter to our attention. Best regards,
Booked through Trip Advisor. We are Canadian and not one to complain but this class was not as it was advertised. First, the class had already started at 5pm when several emails received from Trip Advisor stated 6pm start. There were no appetizers, no prosecco, no three pasta lessons, only one. We ate a very small portion of what we made with jarred sauce and off of plastic plates and forks. For 400 euro for three of us this was extremely disappointing. Feedback was provided to Trip Advisor about the very poor experience and they offered only $60 as a refund. Apparently Elenora indicated that a ravioli was also made and other appettivos were provided. This was simply not true. I will never book with TripAdvisor for anything again based on this experience.
Dear Kelly, First of all, thank you for this feedback. It is always important to listen to our customers. We are very sorry to read these lines since we always try to do our best in order to provide a great experience for our guests. As previously explained, it is true that when you arrived the class had just started, but your host attentively guided all guests throughout the class, doing her best to give you plenty of attention. Also, she offered much more food (Lemon-infused olive oil, basil oil, oregano oil and other specialty oils served with artisan bread, five varieties of cheese accompanied by honey and truffle oil and a special chocolate-infused bread) than what was required from her. She then packed some of the food you prepared and gave it to all guests to bring home. I hope you understand how much we care about what we do, and how much she cares too, and we are sorry this activity was not up to your expectations. We hope this did not spoil your overall memory of Assisi and we wish you beautiful days ahead! We remain at your disposal, Cesarine Team
We had a great time learning to make pasta the right way! We had all made pasta before, but we all learned useful tips about how to roll and cut the dough. Eleonora was very encouraging but not afraid to correct us when we weren’t using proper technique. We even made a new friend who had taken a sauce making class in the morning. We all ate her yummy sauce on our freshly made noodles. And before we started the nice man from across the street took us into his shop to taste wine and area delicacies. A perfect adventure.
Fantastic experience! Elenora was a tremendous teacher. Knowledgeable, patient and made for a A+ class! Clean, easy to book and FUN!
The teacher, Eleanor, was extremely kind and invested into the teaching. She was very patient and knew what mistakes people would make and easily corrected them. She was also very supportive and talkative.
