Itinerary
Parque da Mina is a Theme Park open to the public since July 2005, located in Vale de Boi, near the famous Caldas de Monchique Thermal Village, 9 km from Portimão, in the Algarve. The park includes an old farm with an area of 5 hectares, with an ethnic and cultural past as well as a rich natural and scenic heritage. During the visit you can identify the Flora and Fauna of the Parque da Mina, having the possibility to meet and feed our farm animals, or have a picnic in our outdoor spaces. The House Museum recreates a furnished ancestral dwelling dating back to the early eighteenth century and the ancient professions of Monchique, which can also be found throughout the park, such as Carvoeiro. In addition to a fun labyrinth of mirrors, you will find the Mina de ore extraction deactivated, which gave its name to Mina Park. Finally, visit our gazebo, from which you will see the park and the whole surrounding area, and cross our suspension bridges that pass over a waterfall.

The space has a lot of lack of maintenance, not teem staff, the animals teem a minimum conditions, there is only a bathroom, opened after the scheduled time.. little shadow! ... at the entrance there is a parrot in a tiny cage, since teem so much space is not justified, pony and donkey without a decent area, it is small and walk on top of stone, an area with a well with a scary doll 🙄, lack a lot of improvement..
Path around waterfall was nice view, but needs cutting branches a few new/fastened walking boards. House was very interesting, especially content. But dusty exhibition inside. Cowboy and some other outside object looked like needed maintenance. Coffee and ice-cream was good, but sunshades where somewhat torned. Mirrorhouse was newest and a nice challenge :-) All in all, felt not worth the money.
We stopped here on our way to our next hotel in Monchique. We were greeted by Olga, who explained the park. At the time it appeared they were making ready for the peak season visitors and the park was a little tired and needed some tlc. However, we enjoyed a couple of hours feeding the animals, eating our sandwiches in the picnic area and Olga made us a lovely cup of coffee in the cafe. The museum is eclectic and interesting to walk around and there is a play area for children. Olga herself was very pleasant and engaging and helped to make our visit a very pleasant one.
Beautiful place..Good to spend all day there with the family.. But they still have a big bird in the cage...That is very cruel... Unacceptable..Please free the bird!!!
Think we were the only people in the park Ticket lady friendly and helpful speaking English. Mine closed which was the main reason we went, animals in terrible conditions . A compete waste of money and very pleased that as seniors the cost was 9 euros each. Such a shame as the potential is enormous.
My daughter (5) and I really liked the park. We could feed goats, see boar babies, watch donkeys, ponies as well as other small animals. There is also a museum in the parque in a beautiful house. There are shaded picnic spots everywhere. You get delicious tosta mista and freshly squeezed O-juice! We stayed there for many hours. The mirror labyrinth was my daughter's highlight.
Great place to picnic and spend a nice day in a natural and beautiful Mood. Enjoy to visit the museum, or have a coffee at the bar.
Little walk to see some animals. Nice place to see for young and old. Can be done in the morning or afternoon, passages in the shade quite numerous. Picnic possible. Toilet on site, cold drinks. Adult admission 13€
Very run down with little to see. We hope the expensive entry fee went towards feeding the poor animals and birds. The cafe was pleasant and the staff we came across were friendly.
We've been to the park before. This time a breath of fresh air has blown through the park. Better housing for the animals, neat, toilets perfect, friendly staff. Nice idea to design the former pond as a swimming pond. My grandsons had a great day.
