Itinerary

The Hofburg is the former principal imperial palace of the Habsburg dynasty in Austria. Located in the center of Vienna, it was built in the 13th century by Ottokar II of Bohemia and expanded several times afterwards. It also served as the imperial winter residence, as Schönbrunn Palace was the summer residence.

Pass by

Many Habsburg monarchs got memorials shortly after their reign ended, but the monument honouring Empress Maria Theresa (1717-1780) took a little longer. One of her successors, Franz Joseph, unveiled it in 1888. The late 19th century was a time of great construction works in Vienna as architects and planners filled the space freed up by the removal of the city fortifications. The area housing the Kunsthistorisches and Naturhistorisches museums formed one of the focal points for development. The two buildings face each other across Maria-Theresien-Platz, a square notable for the huge monument at its centre. The monument pays tribute to the reign of Empress Maria Theresa, who inherited the Habsburg lands in a fairly precarious position and turned them into something rather more successful.

Start your trip to Vienna w/ a Cart Tour & Tom!

Tom was the best! This one hour cart tour is a wonderful way to get introduced to Vienna on your first day in the city. There is so much to see in Vienna and it’s ALL so impressive, it’s hard to know where to begin. Tom gave us great historic references and starting points! Even if we aren’t able to hit everything the city has to offer, with the cart tour, we feel like we were able to see and cover A LOT!

Operator response

Thank you for your wonderful feedback. We’re very happy to hear you enjoyed your tour with Tom and that it was a great introduction to Vienna. We hope to welcome you again on another visit.

Hop on bus would be a better option

Driver was not there when it was to leave and did not respond to the messages. The rain flaps stopped the ability to look up at the buildings. The driver was not from Austria. The. Landmarks were pointed out by recording not live. Prosecco we had to drink from the bottle ads there were no glasses

Operator response

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry that some parts didn’t meet your expectations. Please note that weather conditions are beyond our control, and safety measures like rain covers are used to ensure comfort, even if they slightly limit the view. Our drivers may come from different countries, but all are trained and knowledgeable about Vienna. We are proud of our audio guide system, and the driver is always there to answer questions and add personal insights. We also avoid glass for safety and environmental reasons. We appreciate your comments and will use them to improve our service.

Rather a half hearted...

Rather a half hearted tour. Closer to half an hour than the scheduled hour. Guide knew the names of the buildings but not a lot of history, or at least not a lot that he told us.

Operator response

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the tour felt too short and not as in-depth as expected. Our aim is always to provide a full experience with clear historical context, and we regret that this did not come across during your ride. Your comments will be shared with our team so we can improve both timing and guiding quality.

Not worth the money

With Vienna traffic trip is way too short, minimum amount of places seen and limited information about them. Probably has to be longer than one hour. Also with all the trams and buses around, hard to hear what guide tells you

Operator response

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry the tour felt too short and that traffic and city noise affected the experience. In Vienna, traffic conditions can unfortunately vary and are outside our control, but we understand how this can impact timing and visibility. We also offer different tour durations, including a 1.5-hour option, which allows for more attractions, and more details. This might be a better fit for guests who want a deeper experience. We appreciate your comments and will continue working on improving clarity and comfort during the ride.
