Throughout the tour, you will see many species of native and foreign birds during their migration, as well as crocodiles, white face and howler monkeys, iguanas, bats, among other exotic animals. Palo Verde is best known as a bird-watchers' paradise. You will enjoy, simultaneously, a spectacular wetlands and one of the best examples of tropical dry forests remaining anywhere in the world. This dual nature is a result of the Río Tempisque flooding over land located in a relatively arid climate region. A typical Costa Rican lunch will be served. The tour concludes with a drop off in your hotel.

We booked round-trip transportation and our driver picked us up on time. He was very friendly, helpful, and spoke excellent English. The drive to the hotel was about an hour and everything went perfectly. The tours were also excellent; during all the excursions they were always very attentive to us. Esteban, the owner, was always attentive to our needs and provided outstanding service. We would definitely hire this company again. See you soon! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
My wife and I were scheduled to be picked up at 7:30 am by your selected provider. We waited outside the resort gate until 8:30, standing on the side of the road. No one ever showed up. I expect a full refund of the $380.00 prepaid fee. It was a very disappointing and frustrating experience. Zero stars….
We are supposed to be on our tour now but the tour operator never showed up at our scheduled pick up location and time. We arrived at 7:20am for a 7:30 scheduled pick up. By 8:30 the operator had not arrived. During that time I messaged the tour operator , ISSYS, 3 times never receiving a response. At 8:10 I called Viator directly and spoke with a helpful agent - he put me on hold while he called ISSYS directly - but he said they were not answering. He advised that we wait until 8:30 and if the operator did not arrive or communicate that we should leave and request a refund. It’s later in the day now and I still haven’t received any communication from the tour operator. Extremely disappointing!’
I was excited for this tour based on the reviews. However, I'm really disappointed. I reached out a few times prior to the tour to confirm time and pick up location was accurate. I never received a response. The morning of my tour I woke up and noticed they finally sent me a message. Unfortunately, they sent me a message after 11 pm the night before the tour saying their bus just broke down and all the other busses for the day were reserved. They asked if we could reschedule. While I understand things like that happen, we couldn't reschedule since we were going home the next day. I responded with that and asked for a refund since they had to cancel. I never heard anything back from them. I'm wondering if we could have rescheduled if they would have responded then or not. I had to contact Viator for a refund since the operator never got back to me.

We completely understand how disappointing it must have been to be ready and waiting for your tour and not receive the service as expected. After reviewing the booking details, we confirmed that the hotel selected for pick-up was outside of the areas where we provide service. Unfortunately, we are not able to operate tours beyond our established pick-up zones, which is why transportation was not dispatched to that location. We have previously notified Viator about this issue; however, they have not taken action to restrict bookings from locations outside of our service area. We truly regret the inconvenience this caused during your trip and appreciate your understanding. But we would also like to clarify that we are not able to return the deposit directly, as we did not receive the payment immediately. All payments and refunds must be processed through Viator, since they manage the transaction on their end. As previously discussed, we had already communicated with Viator and agreed to the cancellation of the tour and the corresponding refund. From our side, the cancellation was approved and properly reported to them. If Viator requires any additional confirmation from us to process your refund, we will be more than happy to assist promptly.
Our boat guide had expert eyes and located many creatures for us to view up close, including monkeys, crocodiles, iguanas, bats, and many birds. Following the tour, we had an amazing traditional lunch at Rancho Los Coyotes and enjoyed learning about Guaitil pottery. Everyone we met was extremely warm and friendly.
Harold and Charlie were amazing! They were friendly and knowledgeable. For an authentic Costa Rican experience, you can’t any better than this tour!
Issys was super easy to work with. We made a last minute decision to squeeze in a tour before leaving the country and they got us set up in less than 24 hours all via WhatsApp! Our guide (Nolberto) was absolutely fantastic and this tour did not disappoint. We had a lively discussion during the drive, saw more animals than we expected (crocodiles, iguanas, multiple types of herons, ibis, egrets, white faced monkeys), and had a delicious traditional lunch at a local ranch. We would definitely recommend Issys and this particular tour.
Boat ride was fun and saw several animals along the way as advertised! Nolberto was very knowledgeable and accommodating throughout the entire experience!
our tour guide Luis was great! he was knowledgeable and so friendly!! highly recommend him. he had great information not only on Palo Berde but also general information on Costa Rica. even describing how the sugar field harvests work as we passed the fields along the way. the Pali Verde tour was fabulous. we saw monkeys up close and vcrocodiles and so many kinds of birds. great half day trip!!
Great tour with an even great guide, Nolberto Hernandez. We saw monkeys, crocodiles and many water birds. Nolberto was so knowledgeable about every animal, the river, Costa Rican history, etc. He made the trip fun too! It was a perfect tour.
