Great experience from start to finish. Our guide Elizabeth met us promptly at 4:30. Our driver Oliver was fantastic, super safe. The day included buffet breakfast and lunch at a great restaurant -- good selection. Once we got onto a dirt road, it was magical. Beautiful river valley, and a slow climb to llama country and then snow-capped mountains. The hike wasn't easy for some members of our party, but everyone made it. Elizabeth was patient with us and didn't rush us at all. The spectacular weather didn't hurt! We were a group of 8, two families with children 12-18. Everyone gave the trip and guide an A+, and most people preferred it to our trip to Machu Picchu. The day was the ideal capstone to our week in Peru.
As others have said, this is a long day with an early start, however the reward makes it worthwhile. Marco our Guide was attentive to needs and explained everything on the way and did a great job. Daniela in the office was effective with communication. At the start of the climb, I do suggest to not consider it a race and when ascending take regular stops, even for 30-60 seconds, it makes a difference. It also gives you a chance to gaze at the awesome surroundings as it changes at each stop. Fully recommended.
We booked our tour with Inca Highlands because we wanted a local company. They did a great job. Comfortable van, good food, great people. Everything you need for a good tour. Our guide Joel was excellent. The way he is welcomed by the community and also what he gives back was what we had hoped to see with a local operator. Once we started hiking, Joel was checking on the whole group at all times. I was surprised that he could cover so much ground so quickly. He took some very nice photos for us too. The mountains are amazing without doubt. Both me and my wife had a great time.
We booked the private tour for Palccoyo rainbow mountain with Elizabeth as our tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. Overall we had a great time and the scenery is stunning! As we like taking our time to take pictures we were glad that we booked a private tour, this way we could go at our own pace. This was particularly important because we did struggle a bit hiking up to the top at close to 5000 m. The tour was well organized and the communication beforehand was also great. Breakfast and lunch was a buffet (at the same place) with good food. Just be aware that drinks were not included at lunchtime. It’s a long drive from Cusco with a very early pickup (4:30 am), with half of it going up a bumpy, unpaved mountain road. But on the drive we got to see remote villages and a lot of alpaca and llama herds. We can definitely recommend visiting Palccoyo mountain. There were maybe a total of 20-30 people visiting at the same time as us, so it definitely was not overcrowded.
Our guide, Joel was amazing and very attentive. We had the best time!
My friend and I had a great experience going to Palccoyo Rainbow mountain. It wasn’t very touristy and there were three mountains to look at as well as a very scenic view of the valley. Not only were the 3 rainbow mountains, but the other mountains in the valley were beautiful to look at as well. We got a good look at Ausangate Glacier from our short hiking trail and the vast amount of alpacas on the road there. Our guide and driver were very professional and answered our questions without ever saying “I don’t know”. They were also quick to refund me and my friend when we accidentally overbooked on extra tickets for a different date. I’d recommend this company.
Tour was organised through Daniela. Was quite an easy booking process and everything was arranged seamlessly. Tour was led by Wilson and he made sure that the entire group was well cared for, that the altitude was not impacting anyone and that the hike was enjoyed by all participants.
It was very friendly our guide, Joel, you can see his closeness with the people of the communities
Very friendly, knowligable and punctual staff.
It was AMAZING!!! Our driver and guide were awesome. Such a pretty place. Glad we went here and not the more popular one. Walking up to the rock garden wasn’t easy (but you didn’t have to go up). Spectacular views! And it wasn’t overrun with tourist junk.
