Our guide Nika was very helpful since in our group there were some who had never used a kayak before, we were given a locker for any valuables and drinking water from the building as it was a hot day. Nika also took photos and videos for us and sent them on afterwards since we didn’t have our phones out on the water. The rope tied surfboard to the river bank was also great fun and a good surprise to get a break from paddling and try out something new, all round 10/10 activity for the 40 degree weather right now!
I had a fantastic time kayaking on the Danube with Nina. She was a great instructor who explained what I needed to do and why it was important. The two hours went by very quickly and I finished the session feeling confident kayaking and having had a brilliant time.
We booked online in the morning, hoping to kayak that afternoon. The online chat said we could arrive at any time all day until they closed and we’d get the kayaks for three hours. When we arrived around 2 pm, there was no one at the building. We called the contact number and the person said he was driving to Croatia and would call us back. We waited 15 minutes. A few other tourists then arrived with canoes. They said they knew the owners personally, and when they called the owners we found out we were the very first people to ever book with Viator and the system was not in place to help us. We then spoke on the phone with a different woman who said she would try to get us a refund, but she never called me back or emailed me. The other tourists who knew the owners asked to see our booking confirmation, then said we could borrow the kayaks for a few hours on our own. We did that, but didn’t get a guided tour. Very expensive and unorganized. If the other tourists hadn’t been there I’d be out $100 with nothing to show for it. The woman on the phone was apologetic and nice but I would still like a refund of at least part of what I paid, considering we didn’t get the experience described. The other tourists we met were quite kind and helpful and even gave us snacks! And we did get to kayak, which was great, but it was frustrating overall.
Hi Wind, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback — and I'm truly sorry for the confusion and inconvenience you experienced during your visit in Bratislava. You're absolutely right: there was a miscommunication on our side regarding Viator's booking system, and unfortunately, your reservation didn´t arrive before everything was fully set up. We're incredibly sorry you were left waiting and had to rely on other visitors to help navigate the situation. This is not the experience we aim to provide. While we're glad you still had the chance to enjoy the kayaks and paddle the Danube — and that you encountered some kind and helpful people at the center — we understand this was not the organized, guided experience you booked. We truly appreciate your patience, and one of our colleagues who was on-site did try to make up for the trouble by offering you some snacks and refreshments, but we recognize that’s not enough to fully compensate. We are currently in contact with Viator to arrange a partial refund for you, as promised. You should hear from them shortly — if not, feel free to let me know and I’ll call them again, to ensure it’s processed. Thank you again for your understanding, and we hope to have the chance to welcome you back in the future under better circumstances. Warm regards, Patrícia Skovajsová Cohen Vodácke Centrum
