Itinerary
Our central meeting location and pick up point! A beautiful, urban park in the middle of Downtown Portland.
After the morning drive along the Sunset Highway, Oregon's first automobile route through the Cascade Mountain Range, we'll meander through a lush Sitka spruce forest to Ecola State Park. We’ll momentarily leave the vehicle behind and explore this coastal oasis. If time allows, we may also travel back through the forest to Indian beach. This secluded pocket hides away from much of the summertime crowd and is a favorite spot for local beach combers.
After leaving the Ecola State Park, we will be sure to visit Haystack Rock, a sea stack just off the shore of Cannon Beach made famous by its resemblance to its namesake. Claimed to be the third tallest “intertidal” structure in the world, it is a huge basalt rock that was formed by lava flows over 15 million years ago! Here we’ll walk along the sandy beach, watch beautiful birds circle the rock, and if we’re lucky and the tide is out, we’ll view many species of marine wildlife in their natural tide pool habitat.
The town of Cannon Beach will be the backdrop of our lunch stop for the day. Guests will disperse for free time and are able to take their pick of several small-town eateries, each boasting their own eclectic menus.
For the afternoon, we'll head south on the famous Pacific Coast Scenic Byway (Highway 101) to explore more beautiful coastal shores.
Upon Neahkahnie Overlook, we’ll stop to enjoy stunning views along the highest drive-able point along the Oregon coast!
We'll journey to Oswald West State Park, aptly named after the Oregon Governor Oswald West. Governor West is credited with ensuring our vast Oregon coastline would remain open for public use. Our stop in the state park will be tide and group dependent. We may opt to take a short, forested hike following along Short Sand Creek which opens to a driftwood stacked coastline known as Smugglers Cove. A variable from this stop may be a short visit to Hug Point if the tides are low. Here, we are typically able to walk around the point to view a small coastal waterfall!
We'll the end the day arriving back to downtown Portland with a drop off back in Director Park.

Great guide )Andy). Very personable and relatable. He really knows the Oregon coast. He tools us on a couple of “extra stops” that were delightful. The van is brand new and very comfortable. It even has USB ports for charging phones. I highly recommend this tour.
Patrick was highly knowledgeable and passionate about the Oregon coast, he made this tour a truly unforgettable experience. Thank you Patrick and Wildwood Adventures!
A wonderful day. Patrick our guide was very informative friendly and entertaining. The weather was mostly with us and we had some gorgeous views. Would very much recommend this tour to anyone.
Aaron was so knowledgable and I learned so much along the way. The route we took was perfect and so gorgeous. So much nostalgia for me seeing where the Goonies rode their bikes, the hill and of course the rock. Had the best time.
The trip was wonderful with incredible views and locations, a knowledgeable and fun guide who had great portland tips. Would definitely recommend and would book again.
Our first time in OR we decided to explore the area by booking some Viator tours. The coast tour was amazing. Our guide Eric took such great care of us. I can’t imagine having a better experience visiting Ecola park, Canon beach, Sandy beach and everything in between.
Only stopped at 2 locations due to weather and accident. I know neither of those things were anyone’s fault but they made for a disappointing experience. Also I went on another all day tour with another company a few days ago and they had granola bars which was very helpful when you’re moving all morning from one stop to another and lunch isn’t for a few more hours (and I’m a tourist, it’s not like I can grab granola bars from home). Also the guide on the other tour gave us ideas on where to eat and visit around Portland. That was mostly missing here. But anyway the tour guide did the best he could under the circumstances. But overall experience was disappointing.
Hi Caroline, We are sorry about the circumstances regarding weather and the accident on the Coastal Highway during your tour. Your guide was in frequent contact with us throughout the day and as you said, he tried his best to get you beach access and to get to as many stops as possible. It does appear you drove the entire route of our tour yesterday, though we understand the weather did not cooperate for ideal views at some of the stops. If you are ever back in Portland we would love to have you experience the tour again the way intended, as both uncooperative weather and road conditions are unusual!
Mel was a great tour guide with amazing insight about the trip! It was lovely to sit back and enjoy the beautiful coast of Oregon.
Great tour, my family loved it. We had an amazing tour guide Patric. Thank you willdwood adventures!!!
The destination was everything that I expected and more. The tour guide was not that great. She was silent for the majority of the tour. She shared nothing or very little about the surrounding areas that we passed through or visited. She was not very informative or engaging. She was polite and seemed kind. However, she was not an active guide. She also never walked with us or made herself present at any of the destinations.
Thank you for the valuable feedback, Jalisa. We apologize that your Coast trip wasn't up to our standards. We will check in with the guide to address the feedback you presented. Thank you for touring with us!
