Itinerary
We board the boat at Huagang Guanyu Pier and enjoy the breeze on the lake, avoiding the crowds on the shore. During the cruise, the guide will point out the thousand-year-old Leifeng Pagoda, the Three Pools Mirroring the Moon (featured on the back of the one-yuan banknote), and the Broken Bridge associated with the legend of Xu Xian and Lady White Snake. The guide will also share interesting stories about these sights, suggest the best photo spots, and be available to answer any questions along the way.
We head to Longjing Village, where every household is a farmhouse courtyard surrounded by lush tea hills. The air is fresh, the scenery beautiful. Sitting down for tea, we watch the host pour hot water over the dried leaves, which slowly unfurl and turn the water green. The first sip tastes slightly bitter, but soon a sweet aftertaste fills the mouth. After tea, we can take a walk up the hills to see how the tea plants grow. The guide will share the stories behind the tea. It’s a relaxing, effortless way to enjoy tea and learn as we go.
Hefang Street is the best-preserved ancient street in Hangzhou. It is a typical old street in the Jiangnan water town style. Most of the buildings feature the architectural style of the Ming and Qing dynasties: white walls, black tiles, wooden doors and windows, with some houses built right by the water. As you walk along the flagstone-paved road, you can slowly soak up the authentic atmosphere of old Hangzhou. This street is also a favorite among locals, not just a place for tourists. On both sides are many small shops selling local handicrafts, such as beautiful silk umbrellas, handmade fans, and some snacks like tea cakes. You can stroll around and take your time. Around this time in the evening, the street gradually gets more crowded, the lights come on, and it’s a very pleasant place to wander.
